I imagine it to be still, fresh-smelling and quiet there.
Ah, yes, it is. I love walking in the crisp air of winter (bundled up, of course).
Spare beauty.
Thank you, Cindy. The beauty of winter. 🙂

Superb pic ..🥰
Thank you!
I almost went the same way! Always lovely the shadows cast by trees.
I love those long, reaching shadows. 🙂
Me too!
I so love the look of tree shadows on the snow.
Me, too. It must be that smoothness that makes it so pretty.
And the dark silhouette.
serene
Thank you, Catherine… there’s great beauty and stillness in winter. 🙂
Clean white snow is like a canvas just waiting for artwork. You captured a lovely one here.
Thank you, Judy. I love those blue shadows!
Two trunks, become one long wintery shadow….with Spring promises soon to appear.
Yes, the squirrels are frisky this morning, the birds singing, the sun shining… all signs point toward spring!
Perfect undisturbed snow.
Thank you… I do love the pristine look of new snow. 🙂
I especially like the bit of snow that’s been captured between the two trunks; it’s a baby drift!
Thank you, Linda. The wind does sculpt beautifully sometimes.
So lovely
Thank you, Silvia. 🙂
A fine network
Thank you, Derrick!
Pristine snow! It never stays that way here for more than five minutes
Thanks, Allison. Yes, the dog usually ‘scouts the perimeter’, so the purity doesn’t last long.
You do shadows (and reflections) well, Eliza!
🙂 Thanks, Kris!
Beautiful shadows Eliza! 💙
Thank you, Xenia!
🥰🤩🥰
❤ Thanks, Susan!
Another beauty!
Thank you, Tina! 🙂
Ah, this is lovely! And you’re fortunate to find such a spot that hasn’t been trampled upon (though that, too, might make an interesting photo).
Thank you, Debbie! Yes, it doesn’t take long for footprints (particularly dog 😉 ) to happen.
I love your composition and the way you included the tree in this great, intimate scene. I too like and am always noticing tree shadows in the snow.
Thank you, Denise. The blue captivates me!
Great tree shadow shot! I love the play of tree shadows. 🙂
Thanks, Donna… a different kind of reflection. 🙂
Wonderful, I love winter tree shadows!🙂
Thanks, they really catch the eye. 🙂
Beautiful ~ I love the long shadows of winter, especially stretching across clean, white snow. 💙
Thank you, Barbara, same here. One of the many beauties of winter.
Shadows are a photographer’s friend.
Indeed… thanks, Steve.
As a photographer, I wish I could buy a package of shadows to carry around and disperse when needed.
A fun thought!
I love this shadow. Still cold there??
Thank you, Karina. Yes, our temps will be chilly for a couple more months, with nightly frosts until May. Today’s high was around 5C, which is exciting for us, and may reach 10C on Sat. but a cold front is due and it’ll drop down to -15C at night. Beyond that, the next month will hover between -5 and +5C daily. Perfect weather for maple syrup production!
Hope the maple syrup proves productive 🙂
Me, too. Local farmers depend on the income generated, so we always hope for a good season for them and to enjoy the fruits of their labor. 🙂
🙂
Nice photo, Eliza. I also enjoy seeing and taking pictures of trees and other plants in winter, or of their shadows in the snow. One notices details of their bare beauty that aren’t visible at other times of the year.
Thank you, Julie. The starkness of winter emphasizes the beauty unseen in the lushness of the warmer seasons. It gets me through winter very well. 🙂
Wonderful winter shadows. I really like the elegant curve of that branch.
Thank you, Steve!
You really see the world, don’t you, dear Eliza?
❤️🌺🤗
“Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.” ~Franz Kafka 🙂
Ah, that’s truly beautiful! ❤️
Snow-dancing. 🙂
🙂 The squirrels have certainly been doing that this week!
You still have a lot of snow, that is wonderful! It’s a peaceful photograph.
Thank you, Maria. The past few days have been in the 40-50º range, so there’s been some melting, but cold returns tomorrow, of course. We still could have a good storm or two in the weeks ahead.
About the same as here then. We have warm days, and slightly colder nights…still very icy.
Lovely and elegant shapes, light, and life here, Eliza.
Thank you, Jet!
Very nicely captured!
Thank you, Belinda!
Love this, Eliza.
Thank you, Jane. I love those long blue shadows. 🙂
