Tall phlox are one of my all time faves. So easy-care!
They carry the garden until the asters bloom. I just wish the deer didn’t love them, too. 😉

Thanks, Tom. White wood asters have been blooming for a while, and now the others are chiming in. I really love the wild asters best.
Yesterday, I found Flax-leaved aster (I. linariifolia) and Late Purple Aster (S. patens), in a sandy spot in Carlisle where I’ve seen them bloom before. Still no New England Aster – I looked!
Mine are only just budding, but color is starting on the calicos and heart-leaved asters. Hope we see lots of bees!

Yes, usually the same here, but we had perfect weather in May this year and that seemed to make a good start for them.
