Autumn is officially here in the northern hemisphere, so I’ve chosen to celebrate the season for this week’s IAVOM. Featuring another of my Artesa pocket vases, this one sports two looks, cobalt and turquoise, along with a small sugar pumpkin prop (which may or may not be eaten in a few weeks).
Golden cactus Zinnias, rust-colored cushion Chrysanthemums, cut from a plant I picked up recently, and arcs of Cigar Plant (Cuphea ignea) add pizazz in autumnal colors.
White Panicled Aster (Symphyotrichum lanceolatum) mutes the bright colors and cobalt-blue Salvia (S. guarantica) offers contrast while matching the vase.
Thanks to Cathy at Rambling In the Garden, who hosts a weekly meme to showcase arrangements created from our gardens. Wander over to see what gardeners all over the world are arranging this week.
Another beautiful vase – I really like the blue in the flowers – I think the vase really brings out the color in them!
Thank you, Sarah. I love these salvia, which only seem to bloom in late summer. I wish they’d flower longer!
I feel that way about so many flowers!
Gorgeous vase and arrangement!
Thank you, Ellen!
So lovely!!!
Thank you, Cindy!
The top two photos really engaged me. Very beautiful combination of colour, shape, form and texture that work really well together! Thank you.
Thank you!
A very attractive arrangement!
Thank you, Anne!
Reblogged this on anita dawes and jaye marie.
Thank you for reblogging!
The flowers, as usual, are beautiful, but that vase is stunning!
Thank you so much! 🙂
The colours this time of year are so beautiful and vivid 🙂
Thank you, Sue, they really are. I’m enjoying the last hurrah!
All the roses here are having a second flush too 🙂
A fun combination
Thank you, Derrick.
Certainly brightened my day – grey and rainy here. Just love the vases and how they echo the shapes of the gourds
Thank you, Diana. Glad to bring a bit of sunshine to your day.
Beautiful autumn colours – a celebration of my favourite season.
Thank you, Andrea – I hope you have a wonderful autumn!
Great color combinations!
Thank you, Peter!
Just beautiful!
Thank you!
The vase and flowers certainly welcome autumn with a zing. So snappy!
Thank you, Laurie. It’s nice to have this last bit of summery weather – enjoy it while we can!
Beautiful, Eliza. You have such an eye for beauty. Happy Autumn!
Thank you, Mary, so nice to hear from you. Hope your autumn is a golden one!
That’s lovely Eliza! The deep blue sage really sets off the vase colours against the orange. I remember seeing this colourful vase before – perfect for autumn. 🙂
Thank you, Cathy!
Beautiful combination of flowers and a gorgeous vase to put them in. Autumn has arrived now for us both, I hope it lasts a long time so that winter doesn’t arrive until after Christmas.
Thank you, Christina. I’m in no rush for winter, either. At least yours is shorter and milder than ours. This year, I’m going to do a better job sprucing up my indoor garden space. I really need it in the short days of winter.
Oh my goodness, this is beautiful! Autumn has brought summer here – the summer we’ve been waiting for. But things will cool down later this week. Time to make pesto!
Thank you, Kathy. Yum, pesto! I’m embracing this last bit of summery weather, even as the leaves scatter with each breezy gust!
The vase itself is wonderful, and I love the blues and oranges you have used in it whilst the pumpkin makes a great prop, reflecting the roundness of the vase – thanks for sharing
Thank you for hosting, Cathy.
You are welcome, Eliza
oh those vases !!!!!! and the flowers ofcourse !!
Thank you, Gwennie!
I love that vase and you dressed it up beautifully! I almost bought a pumpkin at the market last week to celebrate the seasonal change but then I remembered that there was no way the squirrels would leave it alone until Halloween so I put that off. We’ve gone from fall back to summer here this week but I’m holding on to the hope that, when autumn returns, it’ll stick around.
Unfortunately, no idea how, a few of your comments went spam, thus my late reply. Fixed now, I hope. Thank you for your compliments! I hope your cooler weather returns soon – it’s almost October!
These autumn colours are tone beautifully with your vase. They are all lovely but it’s the golden zinnia which catches my eye.
Thank you, Allison. Next year, I plan on growing more cactus zinnias, as I love their shape…like fringed, scissor-cut paper.
The vase is a beauty in its our right..and so are your flowers. Together they are magic!
I love it, such zingy colours and a fabulous vase. I love the cactus zinnia, I must try that next year.
How very pleasing! Such intense colours and a perfect vase to hold them all. I love the golden cactus zinnias, they just glow.
The perfect arrangement to celebrate Fall! Love how you included the pumpkin in the picture, too! 🙂
Stunning colours! Is that your own pumpkin? I’ve managed to grow just two this year!
Thank you! The pumpkin is from our farm share. The compost pile gave us loads of white gourds that look like Yugoslavian finger gourds, probably (a cross?) from gourds I bought last fall. I placed them on fence posts along the road and still had a pile for a basket out front, as well as giveaways. I love gifts from the compost pile!
Love free stuff like that!!
Eliza I absolutely adore your Artesa vases….and what an amazing array of perfect autumn colored flowers…..and I agree with Cathy, the pumpkin prop is perfect. A beautiful seasonal display!
Thank you kindly, Donna!
I remember that pretty and creative vase from another arrangement. Flowers are gorgeous…The Hummingbirds & I enjoyed the Cuphea. So strange..this didn’t get to my “inbox” till 2:44 pm..wonder what happens in cyberspace?
Curious… stuck in filters?
I plan on trying to root these cuphea cuttings and failing that cutting back the ‘bush’ and bringing it in for winter.
Thanks, Alice!
Eliza, so pretty and I love the vase. I had some Cuphea like that here, yours look a lot better, it gets really leggy in Florida. I have some Cactus Zinnia seed for my winter cutting garden. Bake the Sugar Pumpkin for a pie, you will love it.
Thank you, Amelia. I heard that Cuphea needs frequent pruning to keep it busy. I can see that even after a couple months here in this milder climate. I do love pumpkin pie, but pumpkin spice cake sure is nice, too. Or soup. So many good choices!
I have been making food for my ailing greyhound with pumpkin, brown rice rosemary and turkey cooked in chicken broth. It’s really good, with some sauteed onions a great human meal!
Sounds good to me!
The fall colors really highlight the changing season. Happy Autumn to you!
Thank you, Susie and the same to you!
I’m almost speechless. This is truly gorgeous from the covering, pumpkin, flowers, down to the vase which is beyond beautiful. I don’t know where you found such a lovely planter but it almost doesn’t need flowers. Almost. 🙂 You do have a flair for this.
Aw, thank you so much for that lovely compliment, Judy. ❤
Lovely autumnal zing!
Thank you, Fi!
LOVE!
🙂 Thanks, Julie!
A beautiful arrangement in a spectacular vase!
Thank you, Belinda!
So much autumn in one vase, thanks Eliza!
Thank you, Anca!
Oh my goodness. The arrangement is stunning. It is perfectly autumn in a vase. 🙂
🙂 Thank you, Robin!
Brilliant colours, they certainly cheer up a dull autumn day. I have not seen pocket vases before, they are very impressive.
Thank you, Brian. Pocket vases need a twiggy base or you get flopping, but they are interesting and different, for sure.
Oh, I love that reversible vase.
Thank you, Brenda. Handpainted in Ecuador. My spouse repped for them for a while.
Sparkling vase/flower combo!
Thank you, Ricki!
So much fall in one vase, thanks Eliza! It is perfectly fall in a vase.
Thank you, glad you liked it!
