    What a delightfully unusual view!

  5. Alice Pratt says:

Sunshiny! I thought it was a Dahlia. Birds will be happy with the seeds….maybe squirrels & chipmunks, too.

    • Eliza Waters says:

Yes, goldfinches, titmice, nuthatches and chickadees have only recently discovered the hoard. You know the season is changing when they come out of the woods and back into the yard.

What a great shot of the under-appreciated side of a sunflower!

  11. David says:

I always think of sunflowers and their stalks as being heavy and hardy but the pale yellow and green here gives this flower a more delicate touch. Very nice.

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, David. After the sunflower craze a few years ago, lots of great hybrids have been developed, many of which are small enough to be used as cut flowers.

  12. Yes!! What a gift 🙂

Now there’s a perspective that fits a reflective Sunday: seeing what it is that supports beauty and gives it life

It’s not often that I see a photo of the back of a sunflower. Yours is very nice!

  17. Kris P says:

Pretty from all sides! Shown from the back, the sunflower does have a dahlia-like appearance.

  18. Laurie Graves says:

I really like shots of flowers from behind or underneath. A different perspective, which is always good.

  19. Kathy Sturr says:

    A bashful sunflower! How sweet.
