Blue flowers, that is. Today is Earth Day, and although I think every day should be Earth Day where we do our best to take care of our planet, that’s not the focus of this post. (You can visit here to read a previous one I wrote.)
There are more things just beginning to come up in my garden, but I chose to make another small arrangement this week to offer for In A Vase on Monday. I used Siberian Squill (Scilla siberica), Glory of the Snow (Chionodoxa luciliae) and Striped Squill (Puschkinia scilloides) with a collar of Geranium macrorrhizum leaves in a small, cobalt-blue tincture bottle.
Happy Earth Day – Love Your Mother! ❤

At last, the earth is beginning to awaken here in New England and the spring bulbs are cheering us with their happy flowers. All are miniatures, so it is a small vase, my first vase of the year!

Seeing California’s spring wildflowers has long been on my bucket list. With the long drought quenched by soaking rains the past few months, this year’s bloom promised to be a big one. I am most fortunate to have friends in SoCal willing to take me to see the show at Walker Canyon, Lake Elsinore and wow, what a mind-blowing event it was. The tiny people on the far ridge above give you an idea of how vast the coverage was, 180 degrees of mountain vistas covered with California poppies (Eschscholzia californica) and several other wildflowers.
