Blue flowers, that is. Today is Earth Day, and although I think every day should be Earth Day where we do our best to take care of our planet, that’s not the focus of this post. (You can visit here to read a previous one I wrote.)
There are more things just beginning to come up in my garden, but I chose to make another small arrangement this week to offer for In A Vase on Monday. I used Siberian Squill (Scilla siberica), Glory of the Snow (Chionodoxa luciliae) and Striped Squill (Puschkinia scilloides) with a collar of Geranium macrorrhizum leaves in a small, cobalt-blue tincture bottle.
Happy Earth Day – Love Your Mother! ❤
Just gorgeous blues! Happy Earth Day, Eliza – I agree with you that Earth Day should be every day. 🌷🌻🦋💚💙🌲🌱🌳
Thank you, Betty!
Glorious! Happy Earth Day, Eliza! You make the world a better place.
Aw, thanks so much for that. Ditto!
You’re welcome, and, thanks! 🙂
Beautiful bouquet – I live in Canada and there are not many flowers in evidence just yet. Happy Earth Day!
Thank you, Carol. I hope your flowers pop up soon!
It won’t be long now – I have seen a few crocuses
The joy of Earth Day here is that it is raining lightly 🙂
Yay, a blessing!
Beautiful blues, Eliza. I’m beginning to think we need something more drastic than a World Earth Day – the protesters in London have the right idea I think.
Thank you, Ali. I keep saying we need to make healing the earth our next ‘moon project’ – if we went to the moon, we can do this!
Very Pretty Arrangement. I love the vase. Blue is one of my favorite colors. I don’t have many flowers coming up yet either here in Iowa. I have one Hyacinth flower up, and it floral smell is so strong. Love this time of year.
Thank you, Sandra. Spring is the best!
Happy Earth Day.
Thank you!
What sweetness in a vase. Blues are such a rare color in the garden that they are always a treat!
Thank you, Cindy! That they are. 🙂
Great message and lovely arrangement. Happy Earth Day, Eliza. 🙂
Thank you very much, Judy!
Our Wonderful Earth (OWE) ….the more you think about it & learn about it the better it becomes. You have such talents, Eliza…arranging flowers, photography, knowledge, teaching…Happy Earth Life Day.
Thanks so much, Alice. We do OWE it all to Gaia. 🙂
I loved opening and seeing your beautiful blues this morning! Happy Earth Day, Eliza!
Thank you, Donna! I do love our blue planet! 🙂
Stunning!
Thank you, Maggie!
The blues are beautiful. Yes, love Mother Earth!!!! And I agree every day should be Earth Day.
Thank you, Laurie. 🙂
Happy earth day to you Eliza! Love the vase arrangement! I’m sure these are blooming in my old garden right now.
Thank you, Kathy! Enjoy this special day, kiss the sky (and earth, too. 😉 )
A lovely arrangement for earth day & gorgeous landscape. Is that your place?
Hi Peter – hope you’re feeling better and are recovering well. I wish that was my house, but it was taken from a nearby park that we visit a few times a year. Thanks!
Yes, agreed. Every day ‘ought’ to be earth day. What would we do without it? I have been house and pet sitting in the Pacific Northwest for a week now, two weeks remain. And I’ve spent most of the morning writing copiously on this very subject, aside from today’s blog offering 😉 Lots to ponder on a continuing basis. Anyhow, lovely as always, Eliza. ❤
Thank you, Bela. I’ll look forward to reading what you’ve written. 🙂
😘
The movement mounting among Generation Z worldwide to address climate change is perhaps the most promising shift in the direction of supporting Mother Earth I’ve seen yet. Happy Earth Day, Eliza!
Thank you, Kris. Yes, it gives me great hope – may their energy carry us to success!
Yes, every day should be earth day. Love your delicate little arrangement. Blue and white together are always gorgeous.
Thank you, Christina. I’d say for gardeners, nearly every day is Earth Day. 🙂

That’s some gorgeous blues right there! Is that your house in the last photo? Such a beautiful environment.
Thank you, Maria. Though I live in the area, that is not my house. Isn’t our area lovely with all those wooded hills? Incidentally, the house just to the right of that one was where Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor stayed while they filmed ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’ My older sister interviewed to babysit their kids! (No, she didn’t get the job, which probably went to an adult. 😉 )
Beautiful photos and message. Happy Earth Day to you!
Thank you!
Happy Earth Day Eliza. I have recently got a present of two squill plants. They are still in their pots. Do you know when i should plant them into the garden?
Thank you, Karina. Since technically, Squill should be planted 3″ deep, you might have to fertilize them in situ and wait until they go dormant (allow them to dry out, store and then plant in the fall).
Thanks for that Eliza:)
A beautiful vase and blue is so appropriate for our planet. Is that last photo your little piece of Earth?
Thank you, Cathy. The photo was taken nearby, a few miles up the road. Our area is one of wooded hills, lots of wild land which I love!
Yes, it’s lovely countryside. 🙂
Thank you!
Such pretty blues!
Thank you, Fi!
Happy Earth Day, Eliza, and I know your celebrate every day. Love your blues and the gorgeous landscape. Is this perhaps your home? I hope you had a great day outdoors. 🙂
Thank you, Jane. 🙂 This view is from a place nearby where we often walk. It’s a lovely view in all seasons, but it is not our home, which is a few miles away.
Beautiful! My chionodoxas and striped squill are all ready to open next time we get a warm day! Interesting that my flowers are just a tiny bit behind yours, yet it looks like the trees are turning green there and we’re a few weeks away from that yet.
Thank you, Joanna! The recent warm weather is pushing everything along very quickly after a slow start. Very astute eye regarding the view, my friend. That photo is from another year, but seemed right for showing our pretty spot on Earth. 🙂
Lovely arrangement and beautiful photos!🙂
Thank you! x
This is a beauty Eliza!
Thank you, Belinda!
A bit belated, but best Earth Day wishes, Eliza. I also love those blues of the flowers, and those old glass bottles are such a incredible blue.
Thank you, Carol. Cobalt glass is a favorite.
Lovely tribute to our very special planet, Eliza. And your flower arrangement is such a bright and happy salute. I never would’ve thought to put flowers in a blue tincture bottle, how very clever and beautiful. Your bring everything alive.
Thank you kindly, Jet. I have a fondness for tiny vases that fit on the kitchen windowsill so I can see them often in the day. I have several little ceramic single use creamer pitchers (what they used before disposable ones) – those are the cutest!
Eliza, thank you for this gorgeous arrangement and also for reminding all who come here to Love our Mother. How many truly do? Thank you for being one of them!! 💜💜💜
Thank you, Amy!
Love your Earth Day bouquet. A belated happy Earth Day to you. 🙂
Thank you, Peggy. Happy Spring!
SO lovely, Eliza! Blue is so dreamy… ❤
Thanks, Julie. 🙂
Simply Lovely !
Thank you, Harold!
Lovely arrangement Eliza.
Thanks so much!
I just love the arrangement.
Thank you!
Gorgeous colours and wish too that every day our Mother Earth was honoured by care and compassion for the life she gives us.
Thank you, may it be so, we need an awakening.
Gorgeous! Every day should be Earth Day, for sure!
Thank you, Indie!
Love the fragrance and color!
Thanks so much!
Is this your property, Eliza? Serene views
Yes, it is. Thank you!
Amazing. Must be very private -that is exactly what I would choose :))))
It is and we love it. Rural living at its best! When the trees have leaves, we can’t see another house. Very private!
