Those tall sunflowers are looking beautiful. Do you let them go to seed in the garden, or keep the seed for birds during winter? I am finding that, as our winter comes to an end, birds seem to be on the lookout for nourishment more than ever.
Thank you, Anne. The birds have already started eating the fresh seeds as they ripen. Whatever is left when I cut them down is strung up for feeding through the fall, with a few seeds saved for next spring’s planting.
That is interesting to string up the heads that still have seeds after cutting them down.
They are handy ‘dispensers!’ 😉

They make me think of ‘Little Weed’, a character in an early children’s TV programme (from the 1950s, called ‘The Flowerpot Men’) It looked just like a sunflower. 🙂
