The colors are more muted now. But I love the rust tones of late fall.
Thank you, Sandy. The beauty is more subtle, but there for those who look. 🙂
This is beautiful: it looks quiet and serene, as if waiting for the next phase to begin.
Thank you, Anne. It is the pause before snow blankets the scene in late Dec. It is all tan, rust and gray these days. Winter is drawing closer!
Gorgeous.
Thank you, Cindy!
I cannot believe the speed of winters hibernation Eliza. I was even shocked at seeing baby snow fluttering down among gridiron players in Chicago. Winter must be visiting indeed 🤗❤️🙏
Yes, the temps drop by the day. Yesterday we had snow flurries all day, same expected today. Luckily, nothing is sticking yet… that’ll be another month or so.
The season at its best
The contrasts clearly seen. Thanks, Derrick!
Truly autumnal
Merci, Sheree. Surely is, nearly all the leaves have dropped, leaving us with rust, tan and gray.
The winding waterway is gorgeous!
Thank you, Flavia, a view I love. 🙂
Lovely November scene Eliza! 😃
Thank you, Cathy. If I had the talent, it’d make a great painting. 🙂
Perfect capture for the beauty and feel of November!🙂
Thank you, S! It has been very ‘November-ish’ lately with lots of gray skies.
This warmth of this landscape’s colors seem to make even a gray sky more appealing; it’s a beautiful image.
Thank you, Linda. Probably our favorite pausing point on our walk. I never tire of the view.
Lovely 🍂
Thank you, Val!
Autumn colors.
For sure, late autumn at that!
Such a wonderful autumnal palette Eliza 🫶🩵🍂 xxx
Thank you, Xenia. Rusty browns are about it for colour these days. 🙂
🍂🧡 seasonal beauty 🤗
Thank you, Susan. I assume you’ve had snow?? Did it last?
No snow here yet other than a dusting of it, but it will arrive soon enough 😇❄️🌨️
That is beautiful! Where is your snow?
Thank you, Dale. Snow flurries yesterday and this morning, but thankfully, no accumulation! 👍🏼
We got it all here 😉 And now the skies are hazy and not letting me see the aurora borealis!
So beautiful. But it looks cold!

Thanks, Kris. Yes, it has got a lot colder lately. Past two days the high temps in the 30s. Winter is coming!
such a peaceful moment. thank you.
Thank you, Dymoon!
That’s really lovely. I love being out with the camera when there are clouds and the color of everything is deeper.
Thank you, Dawn. A view I never tire of!
I love the rusty grayish November look. Is this s part of your acres?
Thanks, Julie. Yes, it is… a regular stopping spot along the trail. 🙂
This is such a lovely spot, but that sky? Definitely November!
Thank you, Debbie. Yes, it seems that November has more gray-sky days than any other month!
November is always the grey month. But it still has lots of beauty with those grey skies.
Thank you, Monika. Not the bold beauty of summer, but there’s beauty all the same. 🙂
This looks like a painting! 🖼️ beautiful. 🤩
Thank you, Karen. I can envision it in oils. 🙂
Pretty stream, love the warm brown tones. Didn’t see snow here, but there was frost this morning.
Thank you, Tom. 26º here this morning, with frosts nearly every night. Glad for the wood stove! 🔥
It looks very calming, and slightly warmer than here? It is currently 28F but next week we’re expecting days with as low temperatures as 19F. Have a wonderful weekend and week to come.
Thank you, Maria. Our days are still in the 40s mostly, but we’re dropping incrementally as we go forward.
Reminds me of that old saying, “No leaves, no flowers, November”, but you’ve made lovely picture at a time of year that can sometimes feel so dreary.
Thank you, K. I’ve never heard that saying, but it is very apt. I think November (and February) are the toughest months to get through mentally. 😉
I’ll add March to that list, only from the teacher perspective since there are zero days off. It’s a long stretch between February and April break. I’ll deal with February okay this year because I’m going to Florida for a week!
Ooh, a February break to get away from winter sounds ideal! 👍🏼
Captures autumn closing…the burnt oranges are gorgeous. Love!
Thanks much, Jane. The palette of fall color is diminishing by the day.
Sad… I miss the beauty of snow if that’s any consolation.🙂
Late fall, with its low light, gray days and only brown and gray landscape can feel at times a bit sere and depressing. Snow that falls (and stays) around late Dec./early Jan. can brighten things up a bit. It is all beautiful, no matter the season, but as you know, the growing season is where my heart resides. 🙂
A beautifully tranquil view.
Thank you, Alice!
It looks like a painting. So beautiful!
Thank you, it would make a pretty oil or pastel.
Snow flurries confirm that winter is well on its way in your area, but in central Texas yesterday the afternoon temperature continued in the high 80s.
Yes, it does… windchill today is low 20s. 🥶 so 80s sounds wonderful to me. 😉
A lovely bend in the river (creek?) and the early winter colours and bare trees are wonderful.
Thank you, Carol. In the northeast, we call them rivers, but most of the rest of the country would call this a creek due to its relatively small size.
Thanks for that explanation. Interesting that the use of ‘creek’ is partly regional. Creek is not a term used here at all.
The etymology of the word is interesting… https://www.etymonline.com/word/creek
I wondered why it was used more commonly in the southeast and towards the west. It may be related to indigenous Creek people, and spread with the westward movement.
That’s interesting – thanks!
The earthy tones against the cloudy sky are so pretty. 😊
Thank you, Pepper. 🙂
Cool! I was looking back at some of the posts I’ve missed and this caught my eye since it’s almost the same view as today’s post. What a difference some snow and cold can make, it really looks 20 degrees colder on today’s view.
Thank you, Frank. A view that always changes and I never tire of!
