A mix of annual composite flowers are now coming into bloom in my garden. Featured today are a mix of Gloriosa Rudbeckias, including ‘Cherry Brandy’ and some creamy Zinnia elegans. Foliage is Coleus (Plectranthus) and Rhododendron leaves.

Glorious Gloriosa!
Indeed, they are fun. Thanks, Tony.
A lovely combination!
Thank you, Sandy! 🙂
Unusually beautiful Eliza.
Thank you, Cindy. 💕
Lovely.
Thank you, Alys. 🙂
July is daisy time. What a lovely selection you have. I love the mahogany and yellow colour scheme.
Thank you, Liz. I like the ‘surprise’ colours these self-sowers present every year. One never knows if the seedlings one chooses will be varied or similar. So far, it seems like a good year.
Your vase of flowers add brightness to my very chilly – and blustery – winter’s day 🙂
Glad to know that, Anne. 🌸 🌼 Thanks!
Beautiful summer colours this week Eliza! I love that with self-sown annuals you never really know what you’ll get until they bloom.
Thank you, Chris! To quote Forrest Gump, “Life is like a box of chocolates…” 😉
I can feel the heat of the summer sun in those gorgeous blooms.
And boy, it has been hot, lol! Stay cool, Donna. 😎
Summer delight💐
Which makes these beauties a composition of composites!
What a bright, cheery collection. As dark, windy, and rainy as it is here in the heart of hurricane Beryl, it’s a wonderful sight: almost as cheering as the fact that I still have power!
What a wonderful bloom in the centre, quite perfect, and the mahogany eye is ‘eye-catching’ to say the least.
Thank you, Noelle. I’ve always loved the variety of Gloriosa daisies.
I do love Brown (black)-Eyed Susans. And they are one of the few that I actually know by their Rudbeckia name 🙂 Love those mahogany-coloured ones. Beautiful!
Thank you, Dale! x
😊
Those buttery yelllow zinnias are really pretty Eliza, and make me realise that I usually only have pinks/purples and sometimes orange – but I have a mix this year, so who knows! Cherry Brandy is one of the rudbeckia I always grow, although it is not as reliable here as some. I love this simple collection of composites, so thanks for sharing
Thank you very much, Cathy. Simple arrangements can showcase and highlight a few special ones.
Yes indeed
I do enjoy seeing what’s popping up in your garden! These are beautiful examples 😊
Thank you, Belinda. I’m having trouble keeping up with all this rain and heat. It’s becoming a jungle!
Such a cheerful bouquet. Thanks-those flowers made me smile.
Thank you, Monika, glad to add some sunshine to your day. 🙂
I love composite flowers – there’s nothing more cheerful than daisies! (I suppose Violas might argue that point…) Both my Rudbeckias and my Zinnias are well behind yours but I do have some shaggy Shasta daisies, at least until the heat takes them out.
Thank you, Kris. Nothing beats the long-flowering of composites, except maybe alstroemeria. 🙂
Those Rudbeckias are lovely Eliza. A common name for Rudbeckias in Germany (and for Echinacea too) is ‘sun hats’, and you can see why when looking at them from above. 😃
Thank you, Cathy. Sun hats for fairies. 🙂
😃
Wow! I have never seen such Rubdeckias and Zinnia!
Thank you, Hien. They are breeding some great cultivars these days. 🙂
A beautiful combo! Such nice, rich colors.
Thank you, Rebecca!
A sunny July morning in a Vase. I love some of the newer varieties in deeper colors, very pretty.
Thank you, Amy. Not that inspired, but at least it is fresh. 😉
Love those Rudbeckias. They are a mainstay of my garden from mid-July on and I love how their incestuous breeding creates new colours all the time!
Those bees are busy matchmakers! 😉 Thanks, Jenny.
Love the Rudbeckia. Independence Day fireworks for me was seeing 100+ of them blooming in my community garden plot on the 4th.
They are quite pleasing to the eye (and to the pollinators as well)!
Nothing as pure as a flower’s color/s. Mesmerizing. (Our 118 and 117 back to back days was tough. Today was a chilly 110.)
I have been thinking of you out there in this blistering heat. It must be terrible. Hang in there. 😥
I must have deadheaded too diligently last summer. I usually have several clumps of Black-Eyed Susans and this year I have none. Beautiful bouquet.
Thank you, I usually leave a few heads for the birds and the rest I sprinkle around wild spots where I’d like to see more. This year, I kept a few too many plants as now I see I have LOTS of flowers, but the pollinators are loving it.
Hard to beat rudbeckias for sunshine in a vase! Nice cool zinnias there too. Lovely.
Thank you, Allison!
Love the beautiful combination of colors and learning about composites!🙂
Thanks, it’s a huge family from Asters to Zinnias!
Bold and beautiful!
Thank you! 🌼
Flowers never fail to bring joy to my heart. Great photo.
Thank you, Ali!
