Daffodils are in peak form this week and I’ve selected several cultivars to feature in this week’s vase. Joining them are a few clusters of primula (P. veris) and stems of forsythia, Japanese quince (Chaenomeles japonica) and spicebush viburnum (Viburnum carlesii).
Thanks to Cathy at Rambling in the Garden who hosts the weekly garden meme In A Vase On Monday, featuring flowers from our gardens. Click the link to see what others are sharing this week.
A lot nicer than my flowers. 🙂
Thanks, Jim. A pleasure to share!
A beautiful arrangement, Eliza! Very cheerful.
Thank you, Rebecca!
Splendid! It is like an extension of early spring! (These flowers finished bloom here quite a while ago.)
Thanks, Tony. Regional differences extend the season. 🙂
It is uplifting to see flowers in your vases again. These are beautiful.
Thank you, Anne. Glad you enjoy them as well. 🙂
Bunches of beautiful blooms.
Thanks, Alice!
Yellow is definitely the color of spring, and a beautiful color it is. 🙂
Thank you, Judy. After months of gray/brown, it is just the jolt we crave. 🙂
Splendiferous!!! Party in a vase 🎉♥️🎉
Thank you, Dawn! I love that idea. 🙂
Once again, it’s the white with pastel interiors that appeal, but who doesn’t love a branch of forsythia here and there? So pretty!
Thank you, Linda!
You still have a lot of Spring flowers like daffodils! Here in New Jersey, they have bloomed and are exhibiting seed pods these days.
Regional differences prolongs the enjoyment! 🙂
Gorgeous, Eliza! You’ve inspired me to make my own mixed daff bouquet!
Thanks, Kimberley! Indoor bouquets are a must in this house. 😉
What a beautiful bouquet, Eliza. And I don’t adore narcissus ;-) I don’t dislike them either. Mixed with all the rest, they are gorgeous.
Thanks much, Dale. I’ve loved daffs as long as I can remember. I remember once picking some from someone’s yard and my mother grilling me about it, lol. I told her they were growing in a field! A flower thief at age nine! 🤣
It’s funny, isn’t it? They are happy flowers. Flower theif at age nine! It was a passion from the get!
Yup!
😊
Lovely! So many pretty shades of Spring! I only found out recently that Viburnum is called Spicebush – an apt name I think.
Thank you, Cathy. My bush will scent the area up to 20′ away, heavenly!
So many daffodils. It looks like your grass has greened up even though the trees are still bare.
Warm days and ample rain are speeding things along!
Beautiful Eliza, our daffodils are pretty much gone now so it’s nice to see them looking so vibrant.
Thank you, Andrea. Their season is all too short!
Our daffodils are long gone. These are beauties, Eliza.
Thank you, Sandy. We enjoy them while they last.
Exactly.
My favorite color. Those are so pretty! 🩷🌷🌺
Thank you, Kymber!
The sprigs of forsythia add height to the narcissi – interesting to read that they are at their peak for you now. I don’t have may varieties, but they all been over for a few weeks or longer. Are the pink buds the quince? They almost looked like seedpods
Yes, the coral buds are the quince. They force nicely in a vase. Thanks, Cathy.
What a divine burst of sunshine!! Beautiful 🤩💛🤗✨
Thank you, Susan! 🙂
Such a pretty arrangement! It’s so nice there are so many varieties of daffodils to display.
Thank you, Debbie! 🙂
Glorious!! I haven’t seen the ones I planted yet. I don’t know if it’s because the deer got all of them before I fenced the garden, or if they are yet to show their pretty faces.
Daffodils should be rodent and deer resistant. They don’t like wet feet or planted too deeply, but let’s hope they show up soon. 💛
There’s nothing like daffodils to bring a smile to even the gloomiest face!
For sure! This has been a banner year for them… maybe all that rain last summer?!
A beautiful vase Eliza and such a lovely variety of daffodils! 💛
Thank you, Xenia! x
Lovely bouquet…(Suzanne)
Thank you, Suzanne!
Wonderful and reflective of spring. A very happy vase that sings winter is fading….
Thank you, Amy. The past two days have hit the mid-70s! And the forecast shows no sign of frost. I think winter is long gone. 🥳
Cheers to warmth!
So pleasing to the eye😊.
Thanks much, Belinda!
That is the perfect spring vase….the different varieties of daffs remind me of my old garden!
Thanks, Donna. Over 30 years adding a few new varieties every year adds up!
Beautiful flowers and images!
Thank you, Tom!
A perfect spring vase, love it! I need to add some of that viburnum. Maybe this year I can take better care of the cuttings 🙂
… might as well search out some quince as well!
The viburnum is better behaved than the quince. Both were here when I moved in over 30 years ago, and I soon realized the quince was here to stay… a bit of a thug, too. I would advise resisting the temptation to plant it. ⚡️
Almost as bad as the other Asian plants that have taken over our woodlands. 😦
What a beautiful bouquet!
Thank you, Kathleen!
Hurrah 💐🥰🎉
Thanks, Val! 🙂
One of the prettiest spring bulbs.
Thanks, Monika. The variety of Narcissi cultivars is amazing, and one can have 6 weeks of bloom from start to finish, utilizing the different types.
What a daffodil banquet! I’ve also recently read about jonquils (Narcissus jonquilla)
I do love the fragrant ones and tend to order those before the unscented, or downright stinky ones!
Stunning!!
Thank you, Sylvia. I’m really enjoying seeing this one on the dining room table!
A very nice mix of daffodils, Eliza. It’s nice seeing spring pop up.
Thank you, Susie. It is a joy!
Look at all those yellows! Your vase is spring incarnate, Eliza. I love your vase.
Thank you very much, Alys! 💛
A bright and sunny arrangement! The quintessence of springtime!
Thanks much, Barbara, such a wonderful time of year!
Beautiful and bright!
Thanks much!
Beautiful vase! It shouts SPRING to me. Love it.
Thank you very much! 💛
A joy to see, lots of lovely cheerful yellow.
Thank you, Jill!
Lovely spring mix, especially enjoyed the combination of daffodils and forsythia!🙂
Thank you, S!
What a beautiful combination, Eliza, the daffodils with the spring branches, the soft flowers against the hard branches.
Thank you, Lynn. So nice to have bouquets from the garden once again.
