Good photo, Eliza! I’ve seen bees like that here a few times. The name “sweat bee” doesn’t do them justice. “Emerald bee” would be better.
I agree with you, Audrey. I vote for a name change. 😁
I agree with you and Pepper– Emerald is a more fitting name for sure!
Amazing capture 👏👏
Thank you, Karen! 🙂
Cute capture, Eliza…
Thank you kindly! x
This is an outstanding photograph, Eliza.
Thank you very much, Anne!
Pingback: Silent Sunday – Solitary Bee | Purplerays
I have never seen a green bee before, didn’t know they even existed. How cool.
There are quite a few species of bees that have blue and green metallic coloring. They are small, less than 1/2″ and are called ‘solitary’ because they don’t hive like the honeybee does. The majority of native bees are this type and they are important pollinators. I’m grateful to have them!
What a tiny little bee, and so pretty in emerald green. Lovely capture, Eliza!
Thank you, Barbara. I’m seeing quite a few this year. So grateful!
Beautiful, very important, docile. ❤️People should learn more about these little bees.
Agreed, they do gardeners a great service, all for free!
Amazing
Thank you! Such a pretty bee. 🙂
One of my favorites, and a great example of putting the metal to the petal!
Ha, good play on words! Thanks, Linda. 🙂
Love everything about this image, Eliza. 😊👏
Thank you very much, Pepper!
Beautiful. 🙂
Thank you, Robin. 🙂
So pretty, Eliza! 💛💚💛
Thank you, Donna! These are such pretty bees and I’m seeing a good number this year, yay!
This is the second green bee post I’ve seen today. Nature has some great colors.
I love seeing these little solitary bees. Their numbers are good this year.
Outstanding shot of this green (sweat) bee!
Thank you, Hien!
Love the green on yellow. Sweet pic!
Thank you, Dale! 🙂
Wonderful how the green of the bee complements the background.
Thank you, Laurie. I just love these little metallic bees! I’m seeing a lot this year, thankfully.
Yay!
A beautiful capture Eliza! 💛
Thank you, Xenia! x
So beautiful! I don’t think I ever seen a bee like that.
Thanks, Maria. There are several species of blue and green iridescent bees in our area. Always a happy surprise to see them. 🙂
Very beautiful!
I saw a couple of bumble bees and two butterflies this morning! Pulse quickening experiences for us nerdy gardeners.
Yes, so right. I wander through my garden just to hear and observe the visiting insects. It is all the reward I need.
So pretty and such lovely colours
Thank you, Karina. These are such lovely bees!
Beautiful image Eliza! Enjoyed seeing it!
Thanks, Reed!
Love these metallic little green bees.
They are a delight to see, for sure!
Two of my favourites! Lovely photo!
Thank you, Belinda! 🙂
Gorgeous capture of the beautiful colors of the bee and daisy!🙂
Thank you, S!
What a handsome creature!
She sure is, I love seeing these little pollinators. Thanks, Kris.
Really great capture of this metallic bee. Isn’t it fun to see these beauties in the garden?
Thank you, Tina. Yes, they are little garden jewels!
Huh, I didn’t know they came in metallic green – quite beautiful. 😀
Thank you, many different species, too. So many that I couldn’t be sure which species this one is! I must leave that one to the experts. 🙂
Beautiful photo and subject. That green is a real attention-getter.
Thank you, Susie!
So we’ve both featured a metallic green bee in the past week. Everybody should, right?
‘Tis the season. 🙂
Oh so blissful to see this photo, Eliza. The sweetness of the daisy-like flower with the dazzle of the bee….
Two of my favorite subjects: flowers and bees. 🙂
Interesting, not sure I’ve seen a green bee before.
We’ve been seeing lots of little bees this year (and butterflies, too), which pleases me no end!
What a pretty bee and great photo showing him off, Eliza. Didn’t know much about this type- thanks. I can’t resist photographing bees at work! 🙂
Thank you, Jane. We have a lot of little bees this year, so great to see! I go out to the garden just to listen to the hum. 🙂
Beautiful picture!
Thank you!
