I’ve never noticed how it swirls away from thr center
This one is pretty unique in that way, somewhat like a Fibonacci spiral.
Stars and waves! (And maple tapping – spring is on the way!).
Yes, nature is a joyful thing. March is the dance between winter and spring. Today we have winter with snow falling. 😉
What a hardy cactus!
Indeed. Thanks, Anne!
Coral comes to mind. Pretty by nature!!
Yes, the organic shapes of nature are quite beautiful. 🙂
Indeed!!

Crazy complicated!
Indeed! 🙂
Reblogged this on anitadawesauthor.com.
My first thought was Medusa’s snakey coiffure. 🙂 Watch out for those spines. 🙂
IKR? Cacti aren’t generally friendly plants!
Reblogged this on NEW BLOG HERE >> https:/BOOKS.ESLARN-NET.DE.
A beautifully formed specimen!
It sure is… I loved the swirled form.
Wildly wriggly and prickly. ( I wonder where you went to see that one!?)
The local conservatory has a nice cacti collection. 🙂
I might have to copy that form into one of my drawings! Nature is the greatest artist & inspiration.
It’d make a good subject. If I had one of those arty phone apps I could try a painterly version.
What a beautiful cactus, Eliza. Love the swirls – almost hypnotic.
Thank you, Dale. Very ‘trippy!’ 😉
Indeed!
I’ve never seen a cactus with such waves; it’s lovely!
Thank you, Linda. It’s eye-catching, for sure.
Cactus are so interesting to grow.
And you can do that outside, lucky you. 🙂
Wonderful wavy texture underneath the spikes.
I thought that was pretty cool… nature amazes!
Always.
Such a beautiful perspective, Eliza. Beautiful and unique.
Thank you, Carrie. ❤
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen you post a photo of a cactus! This is an interesting one.
The local conservatory has a really nice cacti and succulent collection, and many are blooming now. I’m going to try to get back in a couple weeks to try to capture the Kalanchoe beauverdii blooms. I love that plant! Thanks for your help in IDing it.
Such a beautiful cactus Eliza, I’ve never seen a swirly one like this! 💚
Isn’t it cool? Just had to share it! 🙂
Look at those twirlies!! It’s fabulous, Eliza!
Thanks, Debbie!
Wavy green, spiky tan–nice combination! Great photo, Eliza!
Thank you, Tina!
🤩😍🤩
🙂 Thanks, Susan!
Pretty green swirls.
Thanks, Belinda. I really liked this little guy!
Beautiful details Eliza. I saw the first coltsfoot yesterday, and thought of you 🙂
Thanks for the thoughts, Maria. ❤ Spring is on hold here again, as we got 5" of fresh snow yesterday, but it's melting today. I keep an eye out for emerging growth, but so far has proved elusive.
Wow!
What an interesting plant…✨
Thank you, Stormie– I’ve never seen one quite like it!
It must be a hardy cactus if it can survive New England winters out-of-doors, which your photo suggests.
No, I wish 🙂 it was in a local conservatory that has a wonderful cacti/succulent collection. It is my escape place in the wintertime!
It’s nice to be able to escape the cold from time to time and spend time with other warmth-loving creatures. 😉
That’s one wavy cactus.
Indeed, it is!
Beautiful and looks unique! 😊
Thank you, Chaymaa!
Welcome 😊 😊
Love the perspective, and the contrasting sharp spikes and soft curves.
Thank you, Barbara. 🙂
So intricate! It almost seems as though it twinkles!
Thank you, Isha, it does, doesn’t it? ❤
That’s a pretty one, and a good angle to show off the structure!
Thank you, Denise. Loved those swirls!
I love Echinofossulocactus (genus name changed I think) , but don’t see them often in Northern California so haven’t had one for years.
It is a pretty one, for sure!
So beautiful! Cactus patterns are intriguing. 🌵
Thank you, Jane. This one had a lot of character. 🙂
Love this! Reminds me of an article I did on cacti. So cool!
Thanks, Michael! It is a fascinating family of super-hardy plants.
