Is that a katydid? It couldn’t have chosen a more colourful background – a beautifully composed photograph.
Thank you, Anne. The contrast was quite striking. This young one (they mature to about twice this size) has been hanging around the garden lately. Usually they are tree and shrub dwellers.

Thank you for reblogging!
A Perfect moment 👏🍁🌼
Thank you, Karen. She was not shy in the least! 🙂
What a lovely vistor and a great capture!
Thank you, Pete!
Oh, my goodness! What a magnificent capture. 😊
Thank you, Irene! The color contrast was perfect.
Oh, this is perfect! ♥♥♥
🙂 Thanks, glad you liked it!
Lovely picture! I haven’t seen katydids in a long time…they must not live this far north. What variety of Calendula is that? I like the pinkish tint! 🙂
Thank you, Joanna! The variety is ‘Zeolights.’
I have never seen one! Wonderful color combination.
Thank you, Laurie. I’ve noticed a few doing this (or maybe the same one repeatedly?) – little flower toppers!
Yes!
Nice to be so comfortable in your skin, that you don’t need to camouflage yourself, either that or the Katydid is ‘somewhat’ colorblind.
I know, I thought that myself. Such easy-pickings for a hungry bird. But maybe it makes her easier for a mate to spot, worth the risk? Who knows. 😉
I’ve never seen a katydid-thanks!
Glad to provide a visual, Ellen! Their songs lull me to sleep every night lately, a song of August.
What did Katy do?
😀
I wasn’t sure if it was an insect or a mutant bloom. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a katydid.
They are hard to see as they are experts at camouflage. Many a time I have been staring right at one on a leaf and don’t see it until it moves. This one clearly didn’t get that memo. 😉

A beautiful capture Eliza and what a lovely creature, I’d never seen a katydid before either 🙂💖 xxx
Thank you, Xenia. Are there similar critters in Scotland?
I’ve never seen any here Eliza, we don’t see cicadas or grasshoppers here either 🙂💜 xxx
Amazing photo Eliza. I love the colour of the flower.
Thank you, Alison!
Applause to the photographer because this was a great and colorful catch. 🙂
Thank you, Judy!
“what long legs you’ve got”
Indeed, this guy could easily win the Long Jump competition. 😉
🙂😀
Great picture.
Thank you, Brian!
What a nice color contrast!
Thank you, Lisa, it made her stand right out, the jewel in the crown. 😉
Quite a landing😊. Lovely photo.
