Lovely photo, Eliza. Always love the look of autumn colors in combination with water. ❤
Thank you, Olga!
Oh, joy! Perfect! I can almost hear the slap of a beaver tail!
🙂 I’d didn’t see any, but they clearly were out there!
Very pretty indeed, Eliza. You have so many beautifully colourful trees at this time of year. That’s quite a pond the beavers have built.
Thank you, Vicki. The trees are coloring up beautifully this year. Beavers dam streams to create enormous ponds, a benefit to much wildlife, esp. fowl.
What a magical place. The autumn colors are wonderful!
Thank you, Sandy! There are many such ponds around here, which make for great photo opps. 🙂
You are lucky, indeed, Eliza.
What color you get!
The maples are pretty amazing around here. These are Acer rubrum, living up to their name. 😉
So pretty
Thank you, Fi!
Very beautiful.
Thank you very much.
Whoa! So lovely.
Thank you, Cindy!
Serenity aplenty.
Yes, indeed.
Gorgeous colours and how fantastic to have beavers around!
Thank you, Carol. The wildlife numbers have rebounded from the days of my youth, due to conservation laws and decline in the number of hunters.
That is good news.
Beautiful … so is that a beaver dam?
Thank you, Allison. Yes, that is a dam, at the stream outlet. It has raised the level of the pond about three feet. Its lodge is in the center of the pond, out of view. They are amazing engineers!
Nice one, Eliza
Thank you, Derrick.
Yep. Looks just about like that here. I’ve yet to see a beaver, though I’ve seen their homes. Happy Friday, Eliza!!
Thank you, Amy. Happy weekend to you!
Same to you!!
So lovely, so fleeting.
Thank you, Laurie. Yes, won’t be too long before it’ll be skating weather. 😦
No doubt!
We have beavers at the lake … they are fascinating. On the drive there from our old house, there is a beaver pond in the middle of a field. It is very cool. This is a beautiful capture, Eliza, of autumn. I love the hints of green gone by.
Thank you, Kathy. The northeast populations have really rebounded!
Mmm… Beautiful, Eliza. I love autumn’s palette ❤
Thank you, Julie. It is a lovely time of year.
Stunning!
Thank you, Peter!
Easjng towards a soft fall. Peaceful view.
Thank you, Albert.
Oh! those autumn colours! Beautiful!
Thank you, with all the rain we’ve had this summer, it is proving to be a good year for colour.
Oh my… breathtaking image, Eliza. I love the colors, the reflection, the light, the everything. 🙂 You are quite a bit ahead of us in terms of fall colors.
Thank you, Robin! Yes, even though our peak is late this year, there are quite a bit of trees turning. Unfortunately, recent rain and wind has brought much of it down. There is a brown leaf spot fungus that infects a lot of maple and ash trees now, where the leaves turn brown and just fall off instead of coloring up. Driving around today, it was disappointing how washed out the hills looked. Clear, bright red/orange isn’t happening the way it used to. Kind of a bummer. 😦
Beautiful autumn scene! How often do you see the beavers busy at work?
Thank you! As they are mostly nocturnal, I don’t see them all that often, maybe once or twice a year– unless they are feeding upon saplings along our river, we might see them more often. However, I see their work all the time, either in debarked/chewed sticks, cut brush, or damming.
Very beautiful. Beavers are amazing animals! 🙂
They really are… thanks, Joanna!
Beautiful
Thank you, Karina.
Gorgeous colours, Eliza. We don’t have beavers in Australia, though I’ve read about them. I’m curious — are they nocturnal, like so many of our mammals? I see from some of your other readers’ comments that people do see them during the day, so probably not?
Thank you, Rebecca. Technically, they are nocturnal, but one can see them sometimes in the late afternoon if they come out early. Yearlings are turned out of the den by their parent to make room for the next brood, so we’ll often see these wandering ones along our river. Inexperienced ones have tried to make dams, but storms frequently flood the river, washing everything away. They are much more successful with habitat like in the photo – swampy marsh and a small stream to dam.
Dry nice Eliza! Beautiful Fall colors in a lovely scene!
Thank you very much, Reed!
I love seeing a beaver dam on the beaver pond, Eliza. They are such busy and productive mammals, and what a serene place this pond is. Truly lovely with the autumn colors right now, too.
Thank you, Jet. Swamp maples love wetlands and right now they are ablaze in color. Reflecting in the water, they are a sight to behold!
Stunning!
Thank you!
A beautiful view Eliza, especially with the reflections in the water.
Thank you, Andrea.
Wonderful photo. The fall colours are really spectacular this year.
Thank you, Belinda. Color is good here in spots. Sadly, many trees now have brown leaf fungus, which causes leaves to drop before they color up.
I’m sorry to hear that. We’re having a fine fall after several that have been less colourful.
Glad to hear it! Take lots of photos. 🙂
Cool. I always love the activity and wildlife that hangs out around these ponds. The colors are pretty awesome as well!
Thank you, Frank!
Beautiful !
Thank you! I am fortunate to live surrounded by so much wild beauty.
What a landscape…🤗
Yes, a lovely wild place. 🙂
This is beautiful Eliza! ❤️
Gracias, Maria!
So beautiful and serene. I’m standing there with you Eliza.
Thank you, Sandra. Glad to have you!
I have never seen a beaver pond in person, that’s amazing…and the colors are beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Jen. Glad you stopped by!
Nice!
Thank you, Cynthia!
Beavers are amazing creatures … just look what they helped you create … another awesome image!
Thank you very much, Denise. 🙂 Beavers are pretty fascinating creatures with all their landscape developing skills.
