It’s nice to have vases of flowers cut from my garden once again. I’ve missed having them. Above are some mixed, sweetly-scented Narcissi in a deep cobalt vase.
Out front are a mix of Tulipa ‘Charming Beauty’ and Muscari ‘Valerie Finnis,’ which I was pleased bloomed together. The timing doesn’t always work so perfectly! With the weather being cooler than normal, they have lasted well. What bulb combinations have worked for you?
They look gorgeous (and stunning in the blue vase). What a lovely colour combination in the Tulip/Grape Hyacinth bed too. How lucky you are to have room to plant as you please.
Thank you, Vicki. Having lots of room can be a problem, too… in that once it is planted, it must be tended! ;D
Beautiful combinations indoors and out! Looking forward to your Flowers in a Vase on Monday!
Thank you, Peter!
Gorgeous. 😀 … been missing them too. 🙂
Thank you!
Beautiful! I miss spring! I am back in Iceland and it snowed yesterday…..
Oh, dear, you must be in shock after Mexico. 😉 Thanks, Mel!
That blue vase is just gorgeous! And I love your planting combinations of blue and yellow.
Thank you, Ali. One of my favorite combinations, like yellow sunshine and blue sky. 🙂
Beautiful! Love spring flowers! Well, all flowers, really, but the spring ones bring so much joy after a long, cold winter.
Thank you! It is true, absence makes the heart grow fonder, most certainly!
Spring flowers really light up the yard and garden.
After the long winter, they are positively therapeutic!
That’s a beautiful collection of narcissi in the blue vase, and the blues and yellows in your garden complement each other so well.
Thank you, Jane. Blue, white and yellow is one of my favorite color combinations.
Garden of Eden Eliza 💕🌸
Aw, nice comment– thank you, Karen!
Aahh so lovely, Eliza! ❤
Thanks, Julie. Happy Sunday!
Visual treat! This made my day ❤
Thank you, Isha, glad to know that!
Most of the spring flowers are gone now, so it was good to see such beauties here today!
Thank you, glad to provide a little flashback! 😉
and it was was very welcome!
Beautiful and Charming Beauty is exactly that!
Thank you, Allison. That one is a keeper!
They look beautiful in that blue vase. Love the new header too!
Thank you, Karina!
They are absolutely beautiful! It’s amazing that you seem to have the same flowers in bloom there as we have here right now! 😀
Thank you, Joanna. Like I commented in your previous post, it is amazing how quickly your area ‘catches up.’ 🙂
Flowers…..so much enjoyment.
They give unfailingly. 🙂
So fresh and pretty.
Thank you, Alison. 🙂
Love it when a plan works like the tulips and muscari. The vase suits the narcissi perfectly.
Thank you, Amelia. Me, too!
BEAUTIFUL 🌱
Thank you!
Just beautiful! I too have missed your wonderful flowers over the long winter!
Thank you kindly, Belinda!
Lovely! Our bulbs here bloomed at almost the same time, probably thanks to the snow and cold – we got everything at once, and now we’re on the late stuff. My allium are beautiful right now, a fantastic new addition to the garden last fall. I suspect more will be added this year – and I have many plans for additional bulbs come fall. The additions of the first couple years in the house are really starting to pay off, and I figure by next spring I should have enough out there not to worry about cutting a few for the house!
(Also, I made a plant map for my gardens yesterday as I added a bunch of new things – I just have a couple old things to figure out, and it will be in good shape for future flower posts!)
Thank you, Sarah. Once we got past the cold temps, things have come along nicely.
Good for you making a map. I used to be more tidy and organized, but I’ve slacked off in that dept! 😉 The closest I get is to write where I planted it on the invoice! 😉
Well, I will probably put the map somewhere where I believe I will never forget it…only to misplace it for several years.
Glad I’m not the only one to do this!
Definitely not! I put a necklace somewhere I definitely wouldn’t forget it about six years ago and I still haven’t found it. And this, despite a move!
Ouch! Makes one wonder about gremlins. 😉
I like that explanation, as it also provides a reason why these things suddenly reappear.
So beautiful Eliza!
Thank you very much, Sylvia!
Ah! You have the combination I saw at Keukenhof; various bulbs under planted with Muscari. That combination would never happen for me in my climate but perfect for you.
Thanks, Christina. Yes, it did turn out quite well. As did the Narcissus ‘Hawera’ and M. ‘Valerie Finnis’ I put out back.
Your Narcissi and tulips are beautiful, Eliza, although I can’t help but feel my head spin at the differences in our seasons. Even the flowers of my South African bulbs are but a memory at this point. Looking back, I’m surprised at how well my own Narcissi looked mixed in with succulents.
Thank you, Kris. Yes, we’re something like 5 hardiness zones apart!
The combination of the yellow flowers and cobalt vase is stunning. That would make a nice framed print.
Thank you so much, Wendy!
Even though it has been said many times in previous comments, I have to add my admiration for the yellow and blue pairings, Eliza. Strikingly beautiful!
Thank you very much – it’s appreciated!
Gosh … so pretty for Spring 💛
Thank you, Val 🙂
I just love the vase in the first photo! It’s gorgeous, and goes so well with the light spring colors. Beautiful Eliza!
Thank you, Maria!
My pleasure.
Yellow flowers in a blue vase always look wonderful and you have a lovely selection of Narcissi. Love that tulip too – one that I planted a couple of years ago but hasn’t lasted.
Thank you, Cathy. I expect most tulips peter out, but I’ve had better luck with the species returning. But for the price, the hybrids are definitely worth the show. 🙂
Can’t go wrong with blue and yellow – classic! Beautiful. I wish there was smell-o-rama.
Thank you, Kathy!
oh the color of those floors and the vase!!
Contrast works! 🙂
Love your mix of Narcissi in the cobalt vase–just sings! The tulips too look beautiful with the muscari underplanting.
Thank you, Susie. 🙂
I don’t grow bulbs because we do not get much chill here. I enjoy gladioli as summer bulbs, but they are sort of like annuals. I get only the cheap ones. I love growing bearded iris because they do very well here but they are not good for cutting.
Many of our annual bulbs that have to be lifted in the fall do well in CA. You get to grow ranunculus, freesia, anemone and agapanthus. But then, we get hyacinth, tulips and daffodils. 😉
Actually, ranunculus and anemones do not do well here. They bloom briefly in their first year, but never again. Freesia does well, and sometimes too well. It can multiply profusely. Agapanthus is one of the most common perennials there is (probably the most common), but it is either blue or white, and perhaps purple. The purple is not very pretty. They grow well here, but are not much fun. We grow daffodils, and they can naturalize. (My daffodils were an abandoned cut flower crop from the 1920s or so. It is the hyacinth and tulips that we do not do much with. They bloom, but only once.
The cream and yellow of the flowers in your beautiful transluscent blue vase echoes the same combination of flowers with the blue muscari in the ground. All so wonderfully well coordinated! I must say that I have been spreading muscari around the garden with enthusiasm and have been so delighted by the small vignettes it provides beneath all the other bulbs. I don’t think there’s anything a patch of muscari wouldn’t go well with.
Thank you, Joanna. I don’t think one can have too many muscari! I’m thinking about getting some white ones in the fall.
Well I grow lots of white ones and I can certainly recommend them. They are lovely on their own or even mixed in among the blues.
It’s wonderful to see your lovely flowers and vases again.🙂
Thank you – I certainly missed them!
How lovely!
Thank you, Fi!
Beautiful! Stunning, really.
Thank you, Laurie!
Gorgeous arrangement. They look so beautiful in that vase. 🙂
Thank you, Robin. I do love that cobalt blue!
You have a marvelous garden, Eliza! It’s good that Spring finally arrived with those beautiful flowers. Better late than never.
Thank you, Hien. I am thrilled with the warmer weather and to be working in my garden again. 🙂
They look so lovely in that blue vase 🙂
Thank you, Christy!
They’re beautiful. We’ve had some lovely – and very different – tulips this year. Other half is the gardener here, but he hadn’t realised that I love tulips til last year!
Narcissi… are they the same as daffodils or different? I always get confused about the definitions.
Narcissus is the Latin genus name (Narcissi is plural), and ‘daffodil’ is the common name.
Ah! That makes sense, thanks!
My pleasure!
Your blue vase of daffodils looks just like the kind of delight I enjoy in my house. I don’t blog about them but sometimes post a photo on Facebook. So my heart leaped.
Thank you, Rachel, glad you liked it!
Great images and cultivars Eliza.
Thank you, Maria.
My favourite flowers! They look lovely.
Thank you, Darlene!
Gorgeous even though late in your garden….I am enjoying the abundance in the garden even with the cold weather upon us again.
Thank you, Donna. The daffs are a distant memory already – things leap forward so quickly. The weigela is blooming and soon the peonies, can’t wait!
