Pingback: Wordless Wednesday – Peony Bud | Purplerays
Not long now! My first ones opened on Monday. 😃
The anticipation is such a longing! 😉
For ‘us’ a surprise…..photo next week, please?!
Might be two weeks at the rate we’re going. 😉
Mine are *just* starting to open, but it’s going to be chillier for the next few days do perhaps they’ll hold off…
Mine as you can see have a ways to go. Generally, a June bloomer in this area.
Every time I see peonies, I remember my grandmother’s pronunciation of their name: ‘PINE-ees.’ Where that came from, I don’t know — but she grew some beauties.
Ah, nice memories. Hers must have been the southern pronunciation. 🙂
Probably not — she was a Swedish immigrant who lived in Iowa. It could have been an English as a second language issue.
🙂
A sign of something wonderful to come. What colour are these ones? They are so pretty no matter their colour!
True, these will be a milky white. But I also have dark and light pink as well. I adore their scent and blousy blooms!
Oh lovely! What a wonderful “bouquet” they will make!
So little and modest. Quite a difference from the showy flower it will become.
Proving good things come in small packages! 😉
You bet!
The excitement builds and I have no patience!
IKR? I feel like a cheerleader for the underdog team! 🙂
Yeah, you’ve got something wonderful to look forward to!!
Absolutely, Debbie. The wait starts as soon as the blooms fade in the previous summer, lol!
Beautiful foliage. I love flowers before they’re open–do you know the color?
Thanks, Tina. Peonies are beautiful in all three seasons, for sure. I think this one will be white.
So beautiful…and hopeful.
Thank you, Jet, waiting for the big event!
💕❤️❤️
Thank you, Isha! x
Can’t wait to see the blooms!
Cue Carly Simon singing “Anticipation.” 😀
*SIGH* It’s peony envy season again.
Yes, it is… I recommend a call to your local florist to cure your peony envy. 😉
Lovely, and no ants. ❤️
They’ll come along later. 🙂 Thanks, John.
I’m sure they will. My mother loved this flower so much and planted them all around the property.
Grow, my pretty, grow! 😀
Yes!! 🙂
Another couple of warm days 🤞
Yes, next week ought to do it! 🙂
Yes!
🙂 Thanks, Gary!
I think a series of daily shots showing it opening would be wonderful! 😉
Thanks, I’ll give it some thought, Donna!
I have one TINY peony “bush” and the folks who cut my grass hacked it down to nothing. To be fair there was not a way for them to have known because to them it looks like nothing. But I was quite sad. So I will enjoy your peonies!
Oh, so sorry, Sylvia, how heart-breaking. 😦 Lawn guys tend to be overzealous with the weed mower, I’ve found. I know it is a matter of undereducated labor, but they are still not high on my list!
Isn’t that pretty! I’ve never seen one.
Thank you, Alys, not a plant for CA, methinks!
I made so many divisions and they all look healthy can’t wait for the blooms xo
Something I need to do this fall! Hope you post a photo of those blooms. 🙂
I will try not to boor with too many shots but as long as they open beautifully, I am sure to post a few 🙂
Oh DUH. I was thinking, ‘peony!’ haha 😉
🙂 Thanks, Bela!
