IAVOM – Allium Time

Purple globes of allium (A. atropurpureum) started blooming this week in my large garden, so I had to cut a few to feature this week, along with Johnny-jump-ups (Viola tricolor), white forget-me-nots (Myosotis sylvatica) and a few furry lamb’s ears (Stacys byzantina).

IAVOM – Dogwood Ikebana

I was inspired to use my ikebana vase today for different look. Dogwood blossoms (Cornus florida), white bleeding heart (Lamprocapnos spectabilis ‘Alba’) and ostrich fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris).

IAVOM – Narcissus and More

My Lenox daffodil vase is the perfect choice to feature some of the parade of Narcissus making its way across my yard. Narcissus ‘Pipit’ and ‘Cheerfulness’ are joined by Japanese flowering quince (Chaenomeles japonica), yellow cowslips (Primula veris) and a single Tulipa ‘Albert Heijn.’

Inevitably, as I make my way around the garden, combinations jump out at me that I must pick to bring inside for closer appreciation. Below was inspired by the bleeding hearts (Lamprocapnos spectabilis) that have come on so quickly, as well as a few Narcissus ‘Salome’, sprigs of yellow barrenwort (Epimedium x versicolor ‘Sulphureum) and for scent, Korean spicebush (Viburnum carlesii).
