    Ooh! It’s lovely! Is it in your garden or does it grow in the wild?

      Thanks, Cathy. It is a wildflower that I planted at the edge of the woods beneath a maple, as it seems to like neutral soil. The patch is small and stubbornly refuses to increase!

    I never hear this plant’s name without thinking of the sky. I grew up among people who believed that if there was a small patch of blue in a cloudy sky — the so-called “Dutchman’s britches” — fair weather was on the way.
