I love this photo!
Thank you!
Amazing Eliza! 🍃🌿🍀
I know, such form, eh? Thanks, Karen!
Maybe this is another benefit of a trip the the college greenhouse? Maybe not. Regardless, it’s a beauty. And it lets me use a word that I never get to use… writhen!
Yes, another greenhouse gem and perfect word-of-the-day. 🙂 Thank you!
It’s not every blog where you learn new and awesome words in the comment section (that said, I suppose I could learn lots of new words in the comment sections of some blogs, but not the sort of words I can break out in polite company)
😀
Reblogged this on Anita Dawes & Jaye Marie.
Thank you for reblogging!
Love that he? she? is reaching out to you! And love that word “writhen!”
I found it such a striking plant with its plaited look and ‘writhen’ is a perfect descriptor. I confess I had to look it up! 😉 ‘Learn something new every day.’
I looked it up too! (;
Looks like a creature ready to crawl away! Wonderful energy in that picture.
Thank you, Laurie. I was struck by the caterpillar-like look of this plant!
Your images are so good!!
Thank you so much, Kim!
If I didn’t know better, I’d guess it was a Crassula of some sort. What is it?
Sadly, I neglected to check the label. My thought was a gesneriad of some sort judging by the flower and its proximity to goldfish and lipstick plants in the collection. The leaves look like Crassula, but not the flower. I guess I’ll have to check on my next visit. 🙂
I finally have an answer for you, Kris. This plant is a Gesneriad from Brazil (I guessed the family right at least 🙂 ) – its name is quite a mouthful: Nematanthus pycnophyllus. It doesn’t appear to have common name. But after a few practice rounds, it begins to roll off the tongue! NEE-MA-TAN-THUS PINK-NO-FY-LUS 🙂
Imagine if there was a flower in each leaf nook 😍
🙂
Very gestural and lovely.
Thank you, Rickii.
Looks kinda caterpillar-ish. 😀
It does!
Nice. Enjoy the pattern.
Thank you, it was rather unusual!
Hi Eliza – I have been wondering why I haven’t been getting notifications of your posts – so I thought I’d come and check. Wow! I’ve missed a lot of good stuff!
Thank you, Michael. Sometimes when you hit follow, WP requires a confirmation email. Maybe that’s what happened?
I’ll look into it. Thx.
How lovely!
Thank you, Fi!
MIss you Eliza:-), Belated happy holidays!!!! I miss your inspiring posts and photos…I am going to take a look around and check out what you have been up to lately:-)
So glad to hear from you. It is still very wintery here!
( ) that is a hug for you…I am back..and eager to see what your paradise is got going on!
So glad to hear from you. Thanx for the hug!
Exquisite! And I learned a new word.
Thank you, Brenda. Learning new things is one of the great benefits of blogging. 😉
This is beautiful. What is it?
On an unrelated note, I’m not getting notifications when you post so will sign up again.
Thank you, Robin. Not sure what the plant is as I spaced out on checking the label. I’m guessing an exotic gesneriad?? You’re the second person who said WP dropped me. WP has been acting weird again of late. I often wonder about ‘that man behind the curtain.’ 😉
Beautiful!
Thank you, Anca. 🙂
That is indeed a beauty. Your photography is astounding.
Is that a cactus of some kind?
Thank you, Diane. I believe it is a gesneriad (because of the flower), but unsure as to the genus/species. I’ll check the label on my next trip.
Very nice form
Thank you, Maria
What form!!
🙂 Nature always amazes.
Agreed! 🙂
