What an optimistic image! I love it.
Thank you!
Hello Birdie, what a cheery eye you have. đ
đ One eye on me, the other on the bird feeder!
That little guy is gorgeous!
Thank you so much!
Lovely, is it nuthatch?
Yes, it is. Thanks!
Is it a treecreeper. It looks a bit like our treecreepers here in Ireland though ours are more brown than grey. Cute though:)
Thank you. đ It is called a Nuthatch. We also have a Brown Creeper, which is not related to the Nuthatch, which has a curved bill and is mottled brown and white. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Brown_Creeper/id Creepers start at the bottom of a trunk and circle upwards, whereas Nuthatches tend to head downward.
Cute little nuthatch! It is so fun watching them skittle about;-)
Thank you, Stephanie. Upside down birds!
The shadow hallow above the bird is a real bonus, frames the bird.
Thank you so much, Victor. As you know, branches and shadows can add or detract. I got lucky here. đ
Lovely photo, sweet little guy.
Thank you, Belinda. Isn’t he delightful?
đ
The bird is so cute and I love the texture of the tree. đ
Many thanks, Ana!
We enjoy these little fellows at the feeders out back. Their nasal calls are cute.
I agree, their calls always make me smile because it sounds like they are laughing!
Oh, what a cute nuthatch! I need the weather to warm up here this week so I can get my bird feeders out – they have been rediscovered in the (very long) unpacking process, and are ready to go!
Oh, the birds will be happy about that!
Love that shrewd little face!
Aren’t nuthatches delightful little birds? đ
They are, they are!
Nice pics…the bird is lovely. (Suzanne)
Thank you, Suzanne. đ
oh, this had me smiling! I was expecting another “wintery” picture. đ
Thanks, Kim. The photo did have snowy branches, but I cropped them out. Telling, isn’t it? ;-D
I love how you manipulate an image to fit your vision of the world at the moment đ
đ
In our upside down world, this one has the right perspective. So do I, as long as I look here.
“. . . here, there, everywhere–if I take time to look.”
Thank you, Albert. đ
I love your photography, Eliza! The bark background is perfect…and the little bird looking with anticipation! Great photo! I like your entire idea of it being a WORDLESS Wednesday! Very clever!
How’d you get ’em to look you right in the eye like that? Wonderful personality.
He really seemed as interested in me as I was in him. đ I do love these little upside down birds!
He is lovely Eliza wonderful capture, enjoy your Winter while it lasts and before you know it, it will be Spring. Wishing you a great day.
Thank you, Karen. The time will go quite fast, I know. Today I really enjoyed being out in the crisp air. đ
Lovely little nuthatch. It is hard to get close enough to them for a decent shot. This is a great shot! Nice, Eliza!
Thank you, Mary. Yes, this little guy was waiting to get to the feeder and stayed long enough for me to get quite a few shots. I love their little ‘ha-ha’ call, it always makes me smile.
And how upside down they always are. Ours sound more like “ank ank ank.” Different accent.
đ Yes, I guess maybe there are regional accents!
So very sweet and adorable.
đ Thanks, Gigi.
What a happy photo! And the little bird is a sweet surprise.
Thank you very much, Dor! Nuthatches are such cute little characters. đ
What a great, great photo! Nuthatches are the handsomest of birds!
Thank you so much, Lisa!
I know these! Theyâre always facing down, I wonder if these are antics or some kind of display unique to them.
As far as I know face down is just their feeding adaptation as they hunt for insects in the bark crevices. They also go over, under and around, as well as up! They wedge seeds in cracks in order to open them. Thus their name.
What a great shot.
Thank you kindly, Fi!
Beautiful! Great shot. đ
Thank you, Eva!
you have captured that beady little eye so well!
Thank you kindly, Ann. đ
Beautiful capture Eliza! They are very busy right now!
Yes, they love the suet best!
