*Just to clarify, this is what it really looks like– no blue filter or tint added post processing.

    The blue is so alluring and tranquil, not just because of its pattern, I think. Quite a beautiful scene, especially with the frozen river.

      Thank you, Micheal. One of my favorite viewing spots along our trail. I looked up and there it was – lucky timing for me to be there at that point in the day.

    Ummm, I hope you are not walking too close to the river. Although I suppose it is frozen solid as can be. Are you snowshoeing to get these beautiful shots?

      Safety is #1 with me (to the point of wimpiness!). When my son had a snowmobile he actually drove along the edges. As you can see from River Ice, the ice is quite thick. Supposedly 2″ will hold a man. It is not a deep river, few places would I consider scary, but it is cold and that is enough reason to stay off it. My active imagination has me envisioning the current pulling me under the ice. 😦 Motherhood activates the danger instinct – now it is permanent.
      Most shots are taken from our trails. With the deep snow, it’s a lot of effort to go off trail. Once we snowshoe the path a few times, we don’t need the snowshoes. My knees are none too happy with the whole business, however. Longing for terra firma. 🙂

        OK. Just checking. Clearly my mother hen protective instincts are not required in your case. I didn’t realize the snowshoes packed things down in such a manner that you can use the paths now. I guess that’s something. We are supposed to get real snow this week. The entire state is in a tizzy. We’ll see school cancellations before the first flake flies.

        Yes, northerners are amused by the hubbub. But if you don’t have snow tires, it is a good idea to stay home.
