At last, the northern hemisphere starts tilting back towards the sun. Slowly, a minute or two every day, day length increases. I hail and welcome the return of the Light!

Beautifully framed image, Eliza.
Thanks so much, Maria!
Amen to that! I cherish every extra minute each evening.
Yes! We are finally moving back towards spring. What a lovely photo, Eliza. I love the frost crystals you’ve captured. Oh, the peace of solstice 😉
One of the best days of the year!
Yes 😉 One of my favorites, too. I like your idea of celebrating the winter solstice as the true new year’s day 😉
It looks as if the frosty leaves and twig are celebrating with you, Eliza. I too am glad that it will soon be days of more and more light.
🙂 Yay, sun!
so lovely~
Thanks, Cindy!
Happy Solstice! xxx
Thank you with many blessings of the season!
Me too Eliza!! Beautiful capture 🙂
Thanks you kindly, Val!

Thank you so much, Julie!
You’ve captured the essence of solstice! Let the light in!
Yes indeed, thank you!
I am right with you there Eliza, and beautiful photo too:)
Thank you!
Yay for winter! Finally, the season is what it is supposed to be. That is a beautiful photo you have
Thank you!
My partner and I strolled down to the beach on the same evening as this post of yours to make sure we made the most of what, for us, in Australia is the longest day of the year. I wanted to take a photo of the sunset, but it was a very cloudy day and the sea and sky were grey and churning, so instead we sat on the sand and talked and watched our dog frolic in the water … still a nice way to pass the summer solstice. Season’s greetings to you, Eliza, and I hope the thought of the coming longer days cheers you.
Thank you, dear Rebecca. Happy Summer Solstice to you! Spending it on the beach is a splendid way to hail the day.
And happy Winter Solstice to you, Eliza (and also happy Christmas!).
I love the idea of us reaching across the globe from opposite ends – it is a joyous feeling 🙂 Happy Christmas!
Hurray – we go towards lighter times! What a beautiful shot.
Thank you, Fi. Happy Christmas!
Hallelujah! Oh how I adore the returning of the light. 🙂
