My first love? Nature. I couldn’t live without my daily immersion, walking in the woods, visiting our waterfall or sitting by the river watching the birds going about their business. It is where I connect to the “peace which passes all understanding.” I have a degree in horticulture, tend too many gardens around my home and garden for a few clients. I blog… and love it, especially enjoying exchanges with this awesome blogging community.
I travelled a bit in my younger days, but like Dorothy said, “There’s no place like home.” So my life revolves around our little sanctuary of 7.5 acres, taking care of the gardens, house and family that fill my heart with gratitude and contentment. I feel truly blessed!

Being in Nature is such a healing balm to the senses. I can well understand why you love the country. I get very ‘down’ when I haven’t got a bit of green space around me in the inner city suburbs where I live. I’m totally envious of your having a river and waterfall.

A fellow Baystater! We used to pass by that way en route to Maine to visit my sister. Except for a handful of years in Newton and Salem, I’ve lived mostly in western MA. I think it akin to Paradise. 😉

Hi Eliza, I’m Margarita: nice to meet you. Thank you for writing on my abandoned blog Margaritaexam141 about the sunflowers dedicated to Flower Week from our mutual friend Cathy from Words and Herbs. I also love nature and animals: you are privileged to have 7.5 acres with a waterfall, a river and a forest. You live in Paradise! Nature gives me life, I respect it and take care of it. I live in Spain, in a flat in Madrid and I have a country house 220 km away where I spend the summer until the end of September. This year due to Covid-19 I have not been able to go. And in 2019 I was only 3 days because we had to return to Madrid from the Emergency Department to admit my dear Father to the Hospital and 11 days later he passed away. It has affected me a lot and since then I have suffered a great depression, which has been aggravated by not being able to go to my country house this year and knowing that my garden will be all dry. Eliza excuse me for explaining myself so much. I want to tell you that I am going to follow your blog, but if I spend a week without writing on your blog, it is because depression has given me a slump and I have not picked up the computer, not for something else. Until the month of June of next year I will not be able to reconnect with Nature in my country house if God wants, because they have confined us without leaving my area of Madrid as of tomorrow. And I have to go to the Hospital this week which is out of my area, but to go to the Doctor they let you go out with the appointment paper. Covid is in chaos. Eliza, I don’t think I’ve read your About Page before. I didn’t know you were a horticulturist. My father studied horticulture in England and later worked in India (Darjeeling) on a tea plantation many moons ago.
How interesting! Darjeeling is one of my favorite teas, matter of fact, I just drank a glass of it iced. 😉
