That purple is such a standout at this time of year!
Tailor made for the golds of fall. 🙂
Asters are dependably beautiful. I look forward to them all summer. Deer nibble them a bit but not disastrously.
I love the header photo! Perfect for fall.
Thank you, Audrey! 💜 Happy Autumn! 🍁🍂
Beautiful frame.
Thank you, Rupali!
Gorgeous! 😁
Thank you, Cathy! The asters have been lovely this year.
I love how in spring mybgarden/yard is so yellow with daffodils, and now it’s so purple with masses of New England Asters. And the bees….!!!! 🐝🐝🐝
That must be a lovely sight. I hope you post a shot!
I have some purple ones blooming right now too. Beautiful.
Thanks, Judy. This one is ‘Hella Lacy’. Pink ‘Alma Potschke’ is another favorite. There are so many cultivars!
So pretty
Thank you, Karina!
Gorgeous color!
Thank you, Barbara! 💜
This is a different version of deep purple falling over sleepy garden walls!
This, too, would flop over if I didn’t stake it!
I have seen many wild ones in this area, but none were as bright as yours.
This one is the cultivar ‘Hella Lacy’ that I’ve had since the 90s.
Love them I have this and pink ones plus the natives I always think I am allergic to but it is that ragweed which I do try to yank out.
Thanks, Eunice. They are my favorite fall flowers.
You are lucky to have a favorite lol I can’t pick.
💜🧡💛🥰🤗
Thank you, Susan! 🙂
Colorful and cheerful on this silent Sunday–thank you Eliza.
Thank you, Jet! 💜
Be still my trembling heart!
🙂 Aren’t asters THE flower of fall? I just love ’em!
Oh, they certainly are!
Love the colour!
Thank you, Maria!
Aster is my birth month flower, and these are gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing them, Eliza!
Thank you, Debbie. Happy Birthday!
I like the way you’ve filled the frame with these beauties 😊
Thank you, Belinda. Me and the bees can’t get enough of them!
These are beautiful flowers, Eliza 🙂
Thank you, Anne, The bees love them, too. 💜
Gorgeous 💜💜
Thank you, Karen!
That’s one very pretty aster!
Thank you, Kris!
I’m joining the chorus of aster fans.
And I wonder if the asters that grow in Colorado might also be New England Asters (they look alike, but I know that there are many species, or variants).
NE asters are probably the most hybridized of all the species, and as interest in native plants grows, I’m seeing other cultivars being offered online. NE Asters are now grown worldwide!
I wonder if a plant can still be considered native after it has been hybridized with others.
Lots of controversy there! Purists say no, breeders claim that a ‘selection’ of native seed that exhibit various traits like height, compactness or floral color that are then propagated should be considered native. While bees can naturally cross-pollinate similar flowers like asters and create new hybrids, it doesn’t happen at the pace that humans do it. I think it depends on whether fauna like bees still find the plant useful for their survival. For example, echinacea are a boon for wildlife, pollinators and birds, etc. But some hybrids like https://www.provenwinners.com/sites/provenwinners.com/files/imagecache/plant_crop_273_298/ifa_upload/echinacea_butter_pecan.jpg are useless, IMO, and a more wildlife friendly choice would be better.
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and the link, Eliza. Thank you!
Asters are sublime at this time of year. Thanks for sharing yours 💖
Thanks, Val. A great send-off for the garden season. 🙂
Look at that gorgeous color! So beautiful.
Thank you, Monika! 🧡
I think it was in the book Braiding sweetgrass by Robin Kimmerer where I heard her say the invitation for her to delve into plant science and medicine was Asters growing with goldenrod. That is one of my favorite color combinations to this day. So enjoy them! We get a whole different pallete here in Hawaii! ♥️🌺🌸
Thanks, Bela. They are definitely one of the great songs of fall. 🍁
I had to come see this because I am loving the asters this year (every year but they seem to be having a banner year this year where I’m at). Beautiful, beautiful. 🙂
Thank you, Robin. I feel the same, asters are having a great year!
Nature’s colours are divine.
Indeed, thanks, Flavia!
Lovingly captured!
Thank you, Alice. Have a great weekend!
