My garden is progressing, but with cooler temps prevailing, things are moving slowly. Today’s vase contains two varieties of Narcissus (possibly ‘Pipit’ and a poeticus hybrid), presiding over clustered blooms of Japanese quince (Chaenomeles japonica) and lungwort (Pulmonaria ‘Diana Clare’).

Lovely, and I like the way you matched the tablecloth.
Thank you, Julie. I love an excuse to use my collection of textiles, as well as my vases. 😉
The quince looks great in combination with the narcissus. Nice closeup of the narcissus.
Thank you, Tom!
Pretty combination, Eliza.
Thank you, Sandy!
That is an interesting combination. I am particular fond of flowering quince.
Thank you, Tony. I hate its thorns, but the flowers are delightful.
I love the way the colors of the flowers and the colors of the fruits in the tablecloth complement one another! The cherries and the quince are especially eye-catching.
Thank you, Linda. They compete a bit, don’t they?! 😀 I have a fondness for textiles.
I ♥️ your flowers , My old bones had to give up 7/8 ths of the kitties & mine garden 2 years ago 😢 https://washekoda.blog/category/garden%f0%9f%92%90/
Thank you, glad you found some joy here. 🙏🏼 😻
Lovely flower arrangement, Eliza.
Thank you, Rupali!
Very nice Eliza
Merci!
So cheerful, pleasing and pretty.
Thank you, Alice!
What a pretty vase to start the week Eliza! 💛 xxx
Thank you, Xenia! Happy Monday to you. 🙂
Now that is a pretty group!
Thank you, Dale!
thanks for sharing this beauty. the past few days i’ve been prepping a talk for a local group and am including how flowers are such an important part of our lives- so this was such a gift this morning. spring is starting to peek up here, but we had snow sprinkles last week and more is coming. thank you so much!
Thanks for the lovely comment. I agree, flowers are a must, at least they are for me!
The daffodil is gorgeous showing off its three colors. 😊
Thank you, Pepper. I love the smaller-cupped varieties, they’re so delicate.
I agree. 😉
Love the white Narcissus with the colorful center, so cheerful! 😊
Thank you, Barbara. My collection of mid-season daffs pleases me no end. The cool weather is helping them last a bit longer at least. 👍🏼
Lovely. It is so good to start seeing blooms everywhere even thought it is a bit slow in coming. (Suzanne)
Thank you, Suzanne. It has been a chilly spring overall. Not hurrying summer however!
🤩💛🙌🏼🙂↔️ Happy days!
Yes! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
A lovely early spring arrangement 😊
Thank you, Belinda!
Very pretty! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your IAVOM posts this spring and summer!
Thank you, Denise. Happy to oblige!
Oh gosh, I love it–especially with the tablecloth. Very nice.
Thank you, Beth!
The best kind of spring vase showing off the whole garden in a moment.
Thank you, Donna!
I wasn’t sure what the quince blooms were at first, as we don’t often see them in a vase – I wonder how long they will last? It’s lovely to see your spring treasures and here in the UK most narcissi are over, so seeing yours extends our season in a way 😉
Thank you, Cathy. They last really well in a vase, esp. if the ends are splayed and recut every few days.
That’s good to hear, as you can never be sure with woody stems
Recently, I saw a woman in a video who claims lilacs will last if you splay the end and dip them in boiling water, which I would think would be harmful, but maybe it kills bacteria which would clog the uptake of water?
That’s really really pretty. We have a quince bush too, it’s sooooo pretty when it’s in bloom. I’ve never cut a piece of it off for a vase. Maybe I can do that this spring.
Thanks, Dawn. They make a good cut flower, esp. if you splay the cut end for better absorbability.
You have a nice variety of blooms. Daffodils are finished here.
Thanks, I try to extend the season by planting early-, mid-, and late-season varieties. I get a good month or more of narcissus blooms that way.
I like the color combination, the quince is a wonderful color. I was thinking you had some Freesia!
Thank you, Amy. It does look a bit like freesia at first glance. I really love all shades of salmon and peach flowers.
Same here, especially with blue and white.
👍🏼
The quince is a wonderful color. Perfect choice to go with the other flowers.
Thank you, Laurie. It’s a hummer favorite, too. 🙂
That’s a beautiful mix Eliza. I love the colour of the quince blossom. 😁
Thank you, Cathy. As I recall, you and Kris, like I do, love apricot-salmon flowers. 🙂
That is a lovely vase. Perhaps the cooler weather is there to make you enjoy the first flowers a little longer? 🙂
Thank you, Maria. That is the silver lining. 🙂
What a beautiful vase of flowers. We are currently under a freeze warning and a winter warning. The forecast is calling for 3-12 inches. We’ll see if it materializes but I’ll happily accept any moisture. Snow this time of year is not unheard of but the freeze warning with calls of snow are a bit unusual.
Thank you, Monika. Oy, that is a lot of snow! Yo-yo weather is confusing, esp. for plants trying to grow. Always a worry for me! Hope your plants will be okay.
I brought in the planters. The installed shrubs and trees should be ok. I’ll brush them off later tonight to make sure no limbs break. It’s supposed to be a heavy wet snow.
Good luck! 🤞🏼
Beautiful!
Lovely spring vase. Pipit is a real poppet.
