Knockout!
Thank you, Ellen. It puts on quite the show in the fall!
Stunning!
Thank you, Sandy!
Welcome, Eliza.
Love 🍁🩷🍁
Thank you, Karen. 🙂
Lovely
Thank you, Sanjay!
These appear to be popular trees in the northern hemisphere and this photograph clearly shows why 🙂
Thank you, Anne. They are quite popular, particularly in the Pacific northwest states. Lovely the year round.
Wow, spectacular.
Thank you, Jill. It is outdoing itself this year. 🙂
absolutely stunning, Eliza…
Thank you, J & A!
Gorgeous. Christmas-like!!!!
Yes, like like stars! 🙂 Thanks, Dawn.
Exactamente 😊💗😊
Now, those leaves I’d pick up with a smile. Not so much for the other million out there. 🙂
I pick up very few, what the wind doesn’t blow away, I mow into rows to pick up or shred into the lawn. With the wind blowing all winter, it is a fruitless endeavor!
Fabulous colour
Merci, Sheree!
I love Japanese maples! This is a gorgeous shot, Eliza.
Thank you, Dale. This plant really shines in the fall.
It does. There is a beautiful one I cross paths with on my morning runs. I just love them (Might one day decide to try planting one – though I heard they can be high maintenance?)
I don’t give this one much attention, actually, except to cage its trunk in winter to protect from vole damage. The key is a good site. Ample even moisture and protection from afternoon sun and winter winds.
That’s good to know. I am planning on xeriscaping my front lawn (bit by bit) to all native plants NOT requiring attention… But I might find a corner for this one.
Very pretty!
Thank you, Barbara!
Almost indescribably scarlety.
When I came around the corner, I exclaimed “wow!” multiple times! 😀
Beautiful……and my favorite color too! ❤️
Thank you, Donna!
so beautiful
Thank you, Sylvia, it lights up the yard!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Two thoughts: first, magenta is more common in autumn than I’ve realized. These are gorgeous. Secondly, I’m so glad yours have turned. The leaves of this species in my area simply turned brown and dropped, no doubt compliments of the drought.
Thank you, Linda. This tree always blazes in the fall, but you are right, in your climate esp. they need at least partial shade from the hot sun and ample moisture, which we had buckets of this summer!
What a beauty!!
Thank you, Donna. I like that it comes later than the other maples, on the stage all by itself. 🙂
Whoa…what vibrancy in a world that steadily turning brown. Beautiful!
Thank you, Monika. It truly glows, esp. backlit by the sun. 🩷
♥️❤️♥️🧡♥️❤️♥️🧡🤗
Thank you, Susan!
Reminiscent of poinsettias…..I wonder how they would look together? I guess we’ll never know since the timing would never be right. 🙂
I can see the connection, but no, unlikely to ever know for sure. 😉
What colour! Drop dead gorgeous!
Thank you! 🙂
That’s a real beauty! If my climate was more supportive, I’d have several more Japanese maples. They need protection from strong sun and wind here and thus far I’ve found only one area that’s just perfect.
Thanks, Kris. It is all about siting with these, I find. Very Goldilocks!
Just beautiful!
Thank you, Belinda!
What a beautiful colour. Much prettier than my Japanese Maple in Autumn.
Thank you, Vicki. I think this cultivar is called ‘Bloodgood’ … an apt description!
Another favorite!!!love it.
Thanks, Amy! 🙂
Japanese Maple is one of my favourite trees…. Beautiful
Thank you! This one really wows me this time of year.
Wow, they’re perfect and the color is over the top. I love those crazy late season shows Japanese maples put on!
Thanks, Frank! It really lights up the yard. 🙂
For some odd reason, mine didn’t put on this stunning of a show this year. One yard guy said that happens sometimes and advised me to watch and see whether the tree comes out in the spring. I’d sure hate losing it! Maybe I need to print out your photo and slip it under my tree’s branches to give it some encouragement?!
They like even moisture… do you mulch it? If you have a dry year, you may need to supplemental water as well.
There’s the problem then. No, I didn’t mulch, and I didn’t water. My bad!!
A perfect one for colour Eliza. Gorgeous!
Thank you, Cathy, it really blazes in the fall!
Yours has such perfect leaves. Ours have something that browns them a bit but they are still stars of the yard. 🙂 I love the samaras’ color.
Thank you, Steve. They like even moisture, do you mulch yours? Also water during dry spells. I apply Espoma plant fertilizer once a year, too.
We just started using Espoma this year. No, the only mulch under the Japanese Maple is whatever falls off the tree. 🙂
Absolutely stunning, Eliza!
Thank you, Jet!
These are beautiful trees and as you show, beautifully shaped leaves too. Nice!
Thank you, Denise!
What a gorgeous splash of colour!
Thank you, Adele! It certainly brightened the yard for a week or so, now it is fading as all things do. 🙂
Wow – what a show!
Totally! Thanks, Susan. 🙂
Lovely!
Thank you, Cindy!
Hard to beat Japanese maple for color and a shapely leaf.
True– thanks, Tom!
