Rosa ‘New Dawn’
My vase this week features Rosa ‘New Dawn’ nestled amid chartreuse Lady’s Mantle (Alchemilla mollis), with delicate accents of pink Heuchera ‘Lime Rickey’ flowers and tendrils of grape vine (Vitis).
Thanks to Cathy at Rambling In the Garden, who hosts a weekly meme to showcase arrangements created from our gardens. Wander over to see what gardeners all over the world are arranging this week.
This is wild and lovely and old fashioned looking. I love the untamed-ness of it.
Thank you, Lisa. 🙂
Such a subtle and beatiful rose.
Thank you, Cindy. It is a pale beauty, for sure.
New Dawn is one of my favorite roses and one I haven’t seen in a long while. My neighbor in Colorado grew them and I loved to look at them from my bedroom window. I don’t have the touch for growing roses, but it’s nice to admire others efforts. The arrangement is lovely. Blessings, Sarah
Thank you, Sarah. Blessings returned!
Reblogged this on Purplerays.
Thank you for reblogging!
How delicate and pretty. Pure summer feeling! 🙂
Thank you, Cathy. I’m savoring the summer temperatures especially. 🙂
That says Summer to me – romantic!
Thank you!
How very dainty. I wouldn’t have thought the Alchemilla’s acidy colour would work with such a subtle rose but the addition of the stronger colour from the Heuchera pulls the trio together perfectly and the arrangement works so well. Gorgeous!
Thank you very much!
Rose and Alchemilla, two of my favourite combinations and such a beautiful vintage looking rose
Thank you!
This time against a perfect background
Thank you, Derrick.
I love this rose, and always look out for it growing up walls. Such a lovely tone of pink, and you have chosen just the right plants and flowers to complement this arrangement.
Thank you, Noelle.
A perfect name for such a delicately colored rose. Exquisite bouquet. I’ll just need to imagine the scent!
Thank you, Alice. 🙂
I planted a New Dawn against our fence this spring and it’s already giving me lovely flowers. What a gorgeous rose.
The blush is so delicate. Not generally a rose person, this one won me over.
I am really appreciating my New Dawn this year and pairing it with alchemilla works so well – thanks for sharing it Eliza
Thank you, Cathy.
Pretty enough for a bride.
Thank you, Laurie. It would make a nice bouquet, once it was de-thorned! 😉
Again a nice bouquet. Roses are simply beautiful at this time of the year. (Suzanne)
Thank you, Suzanne!
Beautiful combination Eliza.
Thank you, Susie.
I used to dream of growing New Dawn, but roses are not a plant I’ve have luck with and so I don’t grow them. So your bouquet is a pleasure to see. Lovely.
Thank you, Linda!
Such a beautiful bouquet, Eliza. I agree with Lisa — it’s “wild and lovely and old fashioned looking.” Like something from another era.
Thank you, Robin. A bit Victorian perhaps? Roses and chintz. 🙂
Sweet and delicate. Looks lovely with the fabric pattern behind in the first picture.
Thank you, Peter. I love that sofa – don’t know what I’ll do when it requires updating. 😉
Beautiful!
Thank you, Julie!
Frothy and beautiful, Eliza! Lady’s mantle is yet another of those plants I wish I could grow. (I tried.)
Thank you, Kris. Yes, it really wouldn’t take the heat and drought of CA. But the list of what you can grow is very long!
You could hardly find better companions for those beautiful New Dawn roses! A perfect vintage composition.
Thank you, Anca!
Love the delicate colour combinations.
Thank you. 🙂
The doily/runner really makes this feel so delicate. Beautiful, as always.
Thank you, Sarah!
Nothing better than New Dawn with a little chartreuse?! Summer in a container, enjoy.
Thank you, Amelia!
‘New Dawn’ is a beauty – I really love the flat-ish, almost saucer shape it has, rather different and most elegant. The heuchera flowers make the whole affair quite dreamlike.
Thank you, Joanna. Roses in a cloud. 😉
Flowers and Lace…can’t get much better than that. Lovely !
Thank you, Patsi. 🙂
Just lovely
Thank you, Fi!
Beautiful. The heuchera adds layers of colour and lightness.
Thank you, Allison.
Beautiful arrangement set off by the lace!
Thank you, Belinda!
This arrangement is so feminine 🙂 I like it!
Thank you, Christy, glad you do!
It is one of THE great roses.
I agree – thanks, Brian.
What a beautiful, dainty, ladies’ arrangement Eliza! I think lace and see you have paired it with your vase. Wonderful!
Thank you, Kathy. It all worked out photographing inside in the morning. I usually leave it too late and there isn’t good interior lighting, thus out on the deck shots.
New Dawn is a beauty Eliza which you have shown brilliantly.
Thank you so much, Dorris.
Wowie-zowie! It has a Laura Ashley feel.
Thanks, it does feel a bit old-fashioned, doesn’t it? 🙂
Delicate beauty!
Many thanks, Belinda!
Such a beautiful antique appeal…
Thank you, Stormie!
Your garden, arrangements and your captures are just wonderful!
Many thanks and blessings! xo
Those roses are so classically beautiful, Eliza. A stunning arrangement and photo. 🙂
Thank you so much, Diana!
Eliza, your arrangement captures the essence of romance – beautiful!
Thank you very much, Lynn!
What an absolutely beautiful rose, in that fresh pale pink with the slightly darker accents of heuchera and the fizz of lady’s mantle. Very restrained and elegant – love it!
Thank you, Joanna!
Such a beautiful bouquet, Eliza
I am a gardener and love this one so much.
Thank you, Anna.
