This is my ninth Walktober, wow! Thanks to Robin at Breezes at Dawn for hosting these many years. She invites us to get out to enjoy the autumn weather and gorgeous colors nature provides:
“The rules are quite loose. You can walk, run, drive, swim, bike, do whatever you need to do. You don’t have to go anywhere. A tour of your yard works just fine. The idea is to get outside but if you need to be indoors, that’s fine, too.”
How easy is that? As this autumn has been particularly beautiful with the best foliage I’ve seen in possibly decades, I am grateful that I didn’t have to wander far to enjoy it. The photo above was taken on a drive we took around the surrounding hill towns, but the rest are from my own yard. Enjoy the slideshow below, then click the link to see the many beautiful walks other bloggers shared.
Beautiful! Thank you for taking us along on your Walktober journey!
Thank you, Carrie, nice to have you along. 🙂
So wonderful! This is one of the longest lasting foliage seasons I remember!
Indeed, it has been glorious! One to treasure. 🙂
These are SO beautiful. I know it’s not necessary to pick a favorite, but I do love that sumac! And aren’t we lucky to have been born in this season?
Thank you, definitely a lovely one to celebrate. 🙂
Perfect images captured on your walks
Thank you, Eunice!
Gorgeous! I love how shrubs like sumac we often overlook surprise us with dramatic knockout color in the autumn. Thanks for being our tour guide!
Thank you for joining me, Ellen! 🍁
Bliss to walk through your yard with a camera. Such beautiful colors.
Thank you, Alice! It is a lovely stroll and even looking out the windows is a treat.
All so pretty!! I love your backyard, Eliza!!
Thank you, Donna! 🙂
Absolutely stunning!!!
Thank you kindly! 🙂 🧡
You are surrounded by a lot of beauty! Wonderful photos, Eliza 😊
Thank you, Belinda!
Eliza, I have to agree with you — Autumn has been stunning here, too! I’m all for adding a Spring/Summer walk to view the newly growing things, but Fall is just too spectacular (at least in some areas) for us to miss out. Thank you for letting me come along. Congrats — nine years!!
Thank you very much, Debbie. It’s really been a lovely season.
What a fall we’ve had! As your pictures so beautifully illustrate. The various shades of red are especially pretty.
Thank you, Laurie. It has been one for the record books, so nice to experience!
Stunning colour. How lucky to find that in your own back yard. 🙂
Thank you, Vicki. It has been a lovely season.
Even better than I’d have imagined! Nothing much to speak of here of course, although we may get a bit in late November or December if we’re lucky. The Los Angeles Times is predicting a dry and warm “summer-like” winter for us.
Thanks, Kris. It has been quite beautiful these past few weeks.
A dire prediction… I hope your winter isn’t too dry or ‘summer-like!’ You need a break.
Your yard looks like a bit of heaven; those are some glorious colors. I suspect you spend a good number of hours in the midst of all that, just admiring the view before the season ends.
Thank you, Linda, that I do. When I’m not outside, I’m still looking out the windows. 🙂
Trees … I love trees and you seem to have so many of them 🙂 We get nothing like your spectacular autumn colours for so many of our trees are evergreen or simply lose their leaves very quickly. I marvel at the variety of colours you show here!
Thank you, Anne. Yes, New England is famous for its fall colour. This year was really something to see… another week or so and most will be down. Then the bleak season begins!
I promise myself to always stop and take a photo (or 2 or 3) whenever something catches my eye. I especially love leaves and I always love your photos!
Thank you very much!
What a walk, Eliza, what a wonderful walk!
Thank you, Gary!
🍁🧡
xx 🙂
What a beautiful gallery, Eliza. It’s wonderful when it’s right in your backyard, too!
Thank you, Dale. Yes, I do feel blessed!
😊
Happy ninth Walktoberfest. And how nice that this fall has produced the best autumn color you’ve seen in a decade. I’m glad to hear New England lived up to its reputation for fall foliage.
Thank you, Steve. It’s been fabulous after so many lackluster years.
For once we got a dose of it too, even if that meant driving 750 miles to northern New Mexico to see it. Yours came to you; all you had to do was look.
Not sure I could live anywhere else, its in my bones.
Wonderful
Thank you, Flower!
I really enjoy seeing all the fall colors. When I lived in CT, I could look across my driveway at a stone fence and trees full of yellow leaves.
A wonderful memory. The stone walls of New England are iconic.
Gorgeous autumn colors. 😊
Thank you, Pepper!
A stunning celebration of autumn, Eliza. Beautiful shots. 🍁❤️
Thank you very much, Jane! x
I’m drinking in all that beautiful fall color. Thanks, Eliza!
Thank you, Sandy, happy to share it!
Beautiful 🙂
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing the glorious colors this year.We are having a bursts of gold and splashes of red. I will be at Chanticleer by myself every day until it closes on Sunday. Such a gift 💐🙏🏼🥰
My pleasure, Val. I’m envious that you live so close to the gardens. One day I will see it for myself! 🙂
Such beautiful leaves to enjoy on your walks
Thank you, Karina. It has been splendid!
Beautiful!
Thank you, Diana!
That’s a whole Lotta orange!
Yes, an amazing year! x
Thanks for the mini Walktober. I was driving to an appointment this past week and thought, I’ve never seen these colors so vibrant, and they said we wouldn’t have any color this year. Then I took my sunglasses off to rub my eye. The colors were still all there but so muted by comparison. Try it with your sunglasses on!!
Thank you, it has been a banner year. We’re at the tail end of it now and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it!
Great collection of fall colors, Eliza! You have a beautiful yard. We’re a little behind you down here, just peaking now and the colors seem to be lingering. Yay!
Thank you, Barbara! It has been a great autumn, enjoy the peak down there. 🙂
Such glorious pictures and colours. I wish I could smell autumn again! It was always my favourite time of year in the Northern Hemisphere.
Thank you, Dawn. It has been an amazing season this year, one of the best!
What a wonderful Walktober, Eliza. I do agree this has been an amazing year for our Fall foliage, and these great captures here reflect that.
Thank you kindly!
It certainly is a beautiful day in your neighborhood. Lovely colors.
Thank you, Judy, it certainly has been a wonderful season this year. I expect you found the same?
When the season started, they predicted less color because of the drought conditions, but they were totally wrong. It was a stunning fall season.
Beautiful photos and how wonderful to be surrounded with all the wonderful fall colors at home in the best walking season!🙂
Thank you, I do feel quite fortunate living here. 🙂
Nine years! How time flies. Thank you for joining in again this year, Eliza. 🙂 Beautiful images. I thought the same thing about the fall foliage this year (best I’ve seen in decades) and some of the best was right here at home.
Thank you, Robin. We’re fortunate to live in such beautiful rural areas. 🍁
Time flies, doesn’t it! Nine Walktobers is quite something. Lovely colour Eliza, and so glad you could enjoy such a good show this autumn. It has been lovely here too. 😃
Thank you, Cathy, time sure does fly. Which means, the daffodils will be coming up very soon! 😀
Haha! Positive thinking! I like it! 😃
This was a fantastic year for color…finally. Fortunately our worries were proven false. So much color right outside our doors, Lovely shots, Eliza.
Thank you, Steve. It was a memorable season for sure.
Glorious!
Thank you!
Beautiful shots and show of autumn colors. I am hearing that autumn was/is exceptional in many areas with foliage! We deserved it!
Thanks much. Despite the widespread drought, the foliage was exceptional!
How nature can work wonder!!
Indeed it does!
