    Wowww. Nature really does replicate itself —these flowers do mimic the sun in radiance. No words needed. And great shot Eliza —you handle the camera expertly.

    Our version is Berlandier’s Sundrops (Oenotheran berlandieri), which has a noticeable black stigma. They’re beautiful flowers, and well named, although I have to travel a bit west to find them.

    Sunny and buttery…and here they just keep spreading..coming up between bricks on the patio, in crevices, discarded hanging baskets, in pots…more and more delightful sundrops.

    I’ve never heard of “sundrops” before, and they’re gorgeous. Snowdrops, of course, but I didn’t know there was a golden yellow variety.

  25. I’m not familiar with Oenothera fruticosa, which a range map shows growing in the eastern half of the United States and Canada. As Linda pointed out, we have other species in Texas.
