To me, the three New England spring flowers that bring my imagination back to the 19th century are Bleeding Hearts, Lilies of the Valley, and Lilacs. I love all of them.
So true. They are classics!
Beautiful Eliza such a pretty flower. 🌺
Thank you, Karen. Hope it cheered you on your first day of winter. 🙂
Great shot.
Thank you very much, Victor. Much appreciated!
Too beautiful for words. ❤
Thank you so much, Robin! 🙂
So pretty
Thank you, Mary. Happy June!
Two of my favorites – Bleeding Hearts and Hosta. 🙂
…and before the slugs have had a go at it! 😉
I haven’t had a big slug problem but I’m noticing some thing year. 😦
Sorry to hear that they have found your garden! 😦 Just a note for next year…applying Sluggo at first emergence through May (once a week or so) I’ve found to be the most effective use of this product. Once the buffet of plants becomes abundant, they are less apt to eat the Sluggo pellets. But it can knock down quite a few early on. Gross as it is, handpicking, esp. before they breed in August, is a necessity here. They can lay hundreds of eggs!
I think you polished those hosta leaves before taking the photo, didn’t you?! 😉 Lovely combination!
Thank you, Cathy. The shapes just struck me as appealing. That is my Hosta plantaginea ‘Grandiflora’ – such a great plant, esp. when it blooms!
Oh, they’re so cute! 💖🌸
Thank you, Trini. Your kind of flower! 😉
Those are the best bright pink wigs ever! 😀
🙂
Reblogged this on Anita Dawes & Jaye Marie.
Thank you for the reblog!
Lovely!
Thank you, Belinda!
Lovely! And, as you noted above, no ravages by slug or snail. The best time of year.
May and June are the best, I agree, both in looks and weather. 🙂
I’m guessing this scene was as you found it? The composition is quite nice.
Yes, as I found it. The ever-selfsowing bleeding heart is encroaching on the hosta. I was struck by the curves and how they made a perfect frame. Thanks, Micheal! ❤
Such cool serenity Eliza! I love hastiest with bleeding hearts.. and astilbes in a couple of weeks!
Thank you, Val. I was just commenting to my spouse about how quickly things are coming and going out of bloom these days. It all seems so fast! The world in hyperdrive. 🙂
This is amazing. I still can’t believe this flower even exists!
🙂 It’s a garden favorite! Thanks, Maria.
So lovely!
Thank you, Fi.
What a superb combination (and an excellent hosta!)
Thank you, Cathy!
