Silent Sunday

Each and every orchid I see makes me want to own all of them. This one too.
They are such beautiful plants. We went to the orchid show again this year and the variety was dazzling. The lighting was pretty dim, so nearly all my photos were terrible as I didn’t have a tripod. This one is in the college greenhouse, which has a pretty nice collection.

As if I’d said it. ๐

One of my favorites! What shape it has!
Thanks, Maria. They really are an extraordinary flower.
Love that detail inside.
Thank you!
It may be Silent Sunday but it speaks volumes to this gardener. ๐
Thank you so much, Judy! ๐
Wow! Talk about dramatic…..
Thank you, Dor!
Aw, beautiful, Eliza.
Thank you, Mary. ๐
Pure beauty ๐
Thank you, Ann. ๐
Come, give us a hug, my Precioussss.
๐
What a beautiful flower. Orchids have such unusual and yet exquisite shapes. I could never be an orchid. I’ve got the unusual, but the exquisite? Hmm, not so much. ๐
Maybe you are more like a tree? Or at least a shrub? ๐
I’d like to think of myself as a mighty oak, but I think I’m probably more like a daffodil or something. ๐
๐ Both are good in my book!
Love it!
Thank you!
Just gorgeous!
Thank you, Fi. ๐
Very beautiful! ๐
Thank you!
I have always wanted an orchid, and I can never bring myself to buy one, as I fear it will quickly end up a former orchid in a garbage can. They are just gorgeous, and I don’t want to be the one who ends the life of one!
I understand the feeling. With the advent of tissue culture, the prices of many orchids have come down to be similar to buying a bouquet of flowers. If thought of this way, it might take the sting out a possible demise. I recently received one of those mini-orchids as a gift and was surprised that the care tag was so specific that it said to give it 1/4 c. H20 once per week! Maybe that’s all you need, specific care instructions. ‘Keep out of direct sun and water 3 oz. every Saturday.’ ๐
subtle and so pretty!
Thank you, Ann!
Ah, so at least you have an opportunity to enjoy orchids close to home Eliza!
Yes, there are 3 college greenhouses close by that have nice collections and then the annual orchid society show, which has really unusual ones to enjoy. Thanks for stopping by, Kris. ๐
I always see monkey faces! So wonderful when they bloom! I have a small vase of them from the library here – since Feb 14 – still blooming. So beautiful! One of my last two remaining orchids is also blooming for me – it hasn’t in years. So exciting. Interesting colors in this one Eliza.
Do you take your orchids south with you or are you back already?
Thanks for stopping by, Kathy. ๐
I took my last 2 remaining (I try to learn from my mistakes) with me … They love it here just like me!
I expect they do!
stunning!:-)
Thank you! ๐
Lovely!
Thank you, Jane!
