We drove to Bullitt Reservation today and took a snowshoe hike to the spot where there is a nice view across the valley to the hills beyond. I’ve taken photos in summer and fall from this same place and it is a good way to see the seasonal changes that happen in New England. Click on the links to view the differences.
The shadows are still long, but the sun is now warmer than it has been and the hike warmed us even more.
Not such a long hike, but it still had my heart rate up! The snowy field is like a big sand dune and very similar to walk through. I love the pristine look of freshly fallen snow and a part of me hates to mar such perfection. No worries, this winter it seems there is always more snow and wind in the forecast coming to cover our tracks.

There was a riot of every conceivable type of orchid from the most diminutive species to the largest hybrid cattleya. And the colors – oh my! Every combination from red to near black.
