My sunflower pocket vase gets its annual viewing! I missed the flowering of actual sunflowers but here are two Rudbeckias (R. hirta and R. subtomentosa), along with yellow sneezeweed (Helenium autumnale), white garden phlox (P. paniculata), collarette Dahlia ‘Giggles’ and two wild asters (Symphotrichum lanceolatum and S. cordifolium).

The flowers are beautiful, but that vase just makes me smile. After living the majority of my adult life in Kansas, I do love sunflowers, and whoever the artist was who designed that vase, I applaud her skills. It’s gorgeous.

Thanks, but I like the naturalized patch I have now that comes back, but only somewhat reblooms. I’d welcome suggestions for other flowers in my sunny community garden. I could use something new, annual or perennial.
My current favorite is the late-blooming Rudbeckia subtomentosa ‘Little Henry.’ It is blooming amidst lavender heart-leaved aster and is wonderful! So you have an allotment garden? What do you mostly grow?
I grow Zinnia, Tithonia, snapdragons, California poppy, and nasturiums besides the Rudbeckia. Suggestions for other flowers that continue blooming are welcome – anything really. It’s a 10×20 plot with veggies and herbs as well.
Sounds beautiful. I like Calendula peach and bronze hybrids, Salvia, Angelonia and Nicotiana, as they bloom all summer. Can’t be beat.
