Silent Sunday – Rich Contrast to the Snow
This entry was posted in Country Gardening, My Photos and tagged contrast, Hippeastrum 'Apple Blossom', indoor gardening, Silent Sunday, snowy scene. Bookmark the permalink.

Beautiful, and a great contrast to the snowy outside view!
I also have the same amaryllis (Hippeastrum) “Apple Blossom” in bloom right now, but mine has a lot more white; don’t know if the variety isn’t uniform or if it’s due to culture differences. Mine came from a hardware store, so who knows? I love the green centre on both.
Red against white. Such a beautiful contrast.
Thank you, Laurie. A beacon of light for spring to follow upon!
It is coming!
👍🏼
Truly a beautiful contrast!
Thank you, Anne. Makes all the difference!
Very rich, almost seems like you’ve turned winter off inside 🤣❤️🙏
Ignore it and it will go away??? 😉
Haha…I tried that and wore shorts and a tshirt in winter. Guess who won? 🤣❤️🙏
Such a fabulous contest. You must be glad spring has started.
Thank you, Flavia. I noticed today some snowdrops are up along the foundation… it’s a red letter day!!
Wow, what a beautiful amaryllis Eliza and such a lovely contrast! ❤️ xxx
Thank you, Xenia. It’s how I deal with the feeling of endless winter!
Stunning! I have orchids blooming right now i contrast to our snow covered landscape. It certainly helps a gardener’s mind and soul.
Thank you, Judy. Don’t you know it! Our winters can be so long.
So vibrant! What a lovely contrast, the snow has met its match.
Thank you, Barbara. The snow is withering in the contrast. 😉
Gorgeous! I can’t wait for color to come back into our world as spring unfolds. Enough of the browns and grays.
Thank you, Debra. I agree wholeheartedly, enough already! I’m dreaming of tulips, boldly blooming. 😉
Gorgeous
Merci, Sheree!
Radiant!!! A warm contrast to winter’s lingering show!!! Y’all still have a lot of snow!!!!
Oh, yeah, lots of snow this winter, just like the olden days. 😉 Thanks, Dawn!
The flower’s color does create a wonderful contrast, but I’m also wondering about the clump of red in the yard. Lingering berries? Red Osier dogwood stems? Whatever it is, it’s equally lovely.
Thank you, Linda. That is the flower’s reflection in the glass. But maybe I should think about planting some ‘winter interest’ shrubs there! We cut down the hedge that was out there in Dec. and will be refurbishing that area this spring. Inspiration can be serendipitous. 🙂
Amaryllis bloom at just the right time.
I started these later than most do, but always a joy whenever they do bloom. 🙂
♥️😎♥️😎♥️🙌🏼
Thank you, Susan!
Amaryllis — delightful!! So nice to have something blooming when there’s snow in the yard!
Absolutely! Flowers help me get through the winter. 🙂
I love the stark contrast! It says spring is coming despite the snowy conditions.

Thank you, Kris. It does give me hope!
Thank you for this splash of joy
Thank you, glad you like! 🙏🏼
The vibrant orange and snow make for a gorgeous contrast!
Thank you, Michele!
Yep…it sure stands out!
On a sunny day, it glows! 🙂
Now that is what we call a POP! Beautiful, Eliza.
Thank you, Dale! 🙂
😊
Such a pretty flower. It’s nicely set off against the snow!
Thank you, Belinda. A little less snow every day. 🙂
Here as well 😊
Love the contrast and color!🙂 That’s a lot of snow still on the ground, we only have a few snowbanks left.
Thanks! I’m hoping the warming trend forecast will take care of a lot of it. Soon!
Great shot! Beautiful flower.
Thank you, Amy. Balm for my winter weary soul!
It is 84 here I may come see you!
Oh geez, and here I am waxing poetic about 50º! Yes, come, the farmers are making maple syrup! 😋
Oh, maple syrup!! i love it for baking.
I love it for EVERYTHING! It is yummy in coffee. 🙂
I have to try that. I have been making pumpkin nut cupcakes with Maple drizzle.
😋
What a beauty!
Thank you, Monika!
Beauteous!
Thank you, Cindy!
Lovely details highlighted by the sunshine. 😊
Thank you, Pepper! I love the green throat drawing me in. 🙂
Ah, yes! 😂
That’s a beautiful contrast, love the backlighting of the blooms.
Thank you, Tina, flowers get us through the winter!
Superb !!
Thank you!
wow! That’s pretty cool 😎
Thank you, Mike!
Such intriguing plants to enjoy growing. Taking their time, ’till we enjoy the flowers. (Only saw this because of Wednesday’s post)
Thanks, Alice. Such an easy one to tend!
A beautiful amaryllis bloom. A friend gave me a bulb that was incased in a wax base … have you seen them? It was a first for me and it bloomed beautifully.
Thank you, Denise. Trader Joe’s offered them a couple years ago and my curiosity was peaked. A novelty to try, but I concluded I prefer to plant my bulbs in soil. 😉
Really beautiful photographs…
Thank you! 🙂
