  3. Anne's avatar Anne says:

    Well observed!

  4. Wrinkled and old, finally reaching its destiny after a journey so profound. A life in the sun, waving in the breeze, growing inside and out. To finally drift down to another world, become something more than it was 🤗❤️🙏

I love the picture, but I also think the title is perfect!

  6. Alice's avatar Alice says:

….and quietly we’ll fall to the forest floor and new leaves will appear.

  7. When I see curled leaves, I know it’s COLD outside! Love the forefront curled leaf, it’s edging is lovely!

  8. derrycats's avatar derrycats says:

I suspect those leaves are going to be snow covered pretty soon. Just started snowing here.

  9. I can almost hear the leaves rustle.

  10. I can hear your crunchy footsteps…if my hearing aids are in. Great photo, as are all of them.

    beautiful image Eliza

  12. Dale's avatar Dale says:

Lovely. Looks like the leaves are protecting something inside. So pretty.

  13. It’s impressive that their leaves remain in place despite the season. Fine title and photo!

I’ve never seen leaves curl in quite that way, unless a spider or other creature had pulled the edges together. They’re beautiful in themselves, but they also remind me of cannoli!

    • Eliza Waters's avatar Eliza Waters says:

      Yum, cannoli! 😉
Largely due the dry wind/low humidity, their texture is like parchment paper. They will relax and open in the rain, but not a lot of that this time of year. We’re expecting 4-5″ of snow tonight.

  17. greendreamsswe's avatar Maria says:

They are probably curling up to escape the cold 😉

  18. Cathy's avatar Cathy says:

Fascinating the way beech leaves cling to the tree for so long. We still have some on our hornbeams, although some of those are already bare too. I hear you are getting a cold spell again. Stay warm!

  19. Adele Brand's avatar Adele Brand says:

A little bit of autumn about to meet the winter, by the sounds of things. Keep warm!

  20. pbmgarden's avatar pbmgarden says:

Great observation. Is it just me? I want to reach in and gently unfurl a leaf to see if anything is tucked inside, but I know it must stay unbothered.

  21. Pepper's avatar Pepper says:

Interesting! I don’t think I have ever noticed the leaves curling like that. I’ll have to take a closer look. 😊

  22. Curled, dried leaves are so interesting to look at. Lovely image.

  23. When I’m surrounded by snow I wrap myself around myself also. 🙂

  24. You are constantly present for the nature.
