That image is as bleak as a land without power or internet. When my internet finally went out post-Beryl, ‘they’ said it would be tomorrow night before it was restored. Ha! It’s back, if temporarily: just in time for me to appreciate this lovely, cooling landscape.

    • Eliza Waters's avatar Eliza Waters says:

I was wondering how you fared… glad you are okay and hope your power stays on. Keep cool, if only in your mind’s eye. 🙏🏼 💙

    • I, too, was wondering how you had fared. What a storm! So glad to read you have your power back. I know from personal experience what a misery it is to lose power. However, we usually have to worry about staying warm. Still…

  2. I assume you pulled this one from your archives.

Maybe looking at wintry landscapes will help us to stay slightly cooler.

  3. Quite a contrast with the present scene!

  4. cindy knoke's avatar cindy knoke says:

    Beautiful and unique photo.

  5. Karen Lang's avatar Karen Lang says:

On those hot summer days you can remember this picture! ☃️🌨️❄️

  6. Anne's avatar Anne says:

Cold! Yet beautiful. I am pleased to have the sunshine to offset the cold here today.

  7. Alice's avatar Alice says:

    ….and that a l l melted to give us precious water….

  8. I’d definitely take that over the current 96% humidity. People use to leave the Northeast in the winter, but if this keeps up, folks will be looking for some place to go in the summer to get away from the heat and humidity. 🙂

  9. I would like to be rolling in that right now.

  10. Cathy's avatar Cathy says:

Ahh, that cooled me down Eliza! It’s hot here again… dreaming of building a snowman helps! ☃️

  11. treahmoon's avatar treahmoon says:

After last night’s sweltering humidity, bring it on!

  12. Oh, yes! Makes me feel better just looking at that cool landscape. As I wrote in my blog, if I wanted hot, humid weather, I would move south.

  13. I’m glad we have spring and fall to take us from one extreme to the other!

  14. greendreamsswe's avatar Maria says:

I see where you are going with this one! How are you holding up? Is it very warm? hot?

  15. I feel a bit cooler already! Boy, it’s hot 🥵

  16. krispeterson100's avatar krispeterson100 says:

Each season poses its challenges, even in SoCal 😉 I hope it’s not miserably hot in your part of the country. Do you have AC?

    • Eliza Waters's avatar Eliza Waters says:

Yes, a couple rooms have AC, and we run fans and dehumidifiers to bring it down to bearable. The heat index has been over 100 for days, 109º currently. This in not typical for New England and we’re in shock. A steamy ‘new normal.’
Winter is looking pretty good right now. 😉

      • krispeterson100's avatar krispeterson100 says:

I can believe that, Eliza! Yikes, 109 is bad enough but high humidity has got to put you in the running with Palm Springs and Las Vegas!

  17. With triple digits for triple days in our forecast, that actually doesn’t look half bad. 😉 ‘Just’ 73 days until the official arrival of autumn. Can’t wait! Try to stay cool if at all possible.

  18. Dale's avatar Dale says:

Were ya feeling warm and needing some mental way to cool off?

    It’s a lovely image, though!

  19. OMG, that looks absolutely wonderful!! I’m thinking a few snow angels before we go looking for animal tracks…and maybe making a snowman!!☃️😁

    • Eliza Waters's avatar Eliza Waters says:

I guess we need to remember that though we love an ideal temperature, very few days actually fit that criteria. Best to find the good in each and every day. 🙂

  20. Tina's avatar Tina says:

I have to assume this isn’t a recent July photo. 🙂 That being said, it’s nice to see this chilled landscape, to remember that each season is fleeting, even if it doesn’t feel that way at the time.

  21. dawnbirdau's avatar dawnbirdau says:

    Beautiful pic, Eliza.

  22. That did it, we’re heading to Half Moon Bay for some relief!

  23. pbmgarden's avatar pbmgarden says:

Eliza, it’s shocking to see from the comments you’re also having wildly high and dangerous heat/heat indices. Be safe.

  24. gwenniesgardenworld's avatar gwenniesgardenworld says:

I hear you needed cooling off a bit, over here we are all praying for a bit of warmth, so far we’ve had cool and very wet weather, and once in a wile a beautiful summersday. Have a great time cooling off somewhere nice !

  25. Debbie's avatar Debbie says:

Cool!! And a great reminder that this heat and humidity, too, will pass!

  26. So intense! In Australia it is the middle of winter – but there are so few places in which it snows – what a wonderland! Linda xx

  27. I hear it has been very hot Back East. Is this post to help readers cool off? Looks cold!

    • Eliza Waters's avatar Eliza Waters says:

Yes, I felt we needed a break from the heat, if only in picture form. It finally broke last night, 10 days of unbearable heat and humidity. 🥵

  28. tomwhelan's avatar tomwhelan says:

I love the way snow simplifies the landscape. Beautiful image! I wish it were cool now…

  29. naturebackin's avatar naturebackin says:

This lovely snowscape is in sharp contrast to the scarily high temperatures you were having in late July. I hope those high temps have moderated by now?
