…still snowing by you?
This was about a week ago and, though it is now all melted, predictions are for a few more inches mid-week. Not over yet!
Lots of flux.
Yup!
They are resilient indeed! At least spring snow usually melts fast.
That is true… and more snow predicted for this week. It ain’t over yet! 😉
I should say so! What a stunning sequence of photos.
Thank you, Laurie! Sounds like we’re going to get a repeat again this week?
Yup. Wednesday for us.
Look at those colours! 🩶💛💚🤍
Thank you, Isha. They are a beautiful and very tough iris. 🙂
How perfect for this Easter Day!
Thank you, Dale, glad you picked up on that. 🙂
💞
Beautiful photos to remind us of resilience. Best wishes
Thank you very much!
Wow! I am sure I am wrong, but they look like Peruvian Lilies.
Yes, they have that look about them. They are the first iris of the season, I. reticulata.
Happy Easter, and I hope that snow has gone for good now!
Thank you, Cathy. We’re due for another few inches mid-week, so it isn’t over yet, alas!
Oh no!
OMG. I am sure these tiny wonders will survive.
They look so delicate, yet they survived splendidly. 🙂
Thanks Eliza.
Hi Eliza . Tough as well as beautiful. A life lesson for all of us never to give up.
MJ
Yes, it is. Thanks, MJ!
Lovely images…resilience indeed. Evolution over time…through the seasons. Something beautifully metaphorical here.
So true! I was checking rose bushes yesterday, and the leaf buds are starting to unfurl. Nature – it is amazing.
Agreed, truly is. Thanks, Judy!
Lovely ‘Katherines’…..the Spring bulbs know, there might be snow…and crocuses are so welcome. Awaiting the Honey Bees.
Thank you, Alice!
And reliability!
Yes! 🙂
Oh wow. Happy Easter
Thanks much!
I love this sequence. And your Happy Easter crocuses . . . as the winter’s-last-gasp snow melts off my tulips and iris. Happy Easter!
Thank you, Ellen. Have a lovely Easter!
Will not be denied. Great photo!
It seems so, thanks, Gary!
They certainly need it!
Their toughness is astonishing!
Hopefully the last of the winter and crossing fingers that these beautiful flowers will survive. In Montreal, snow is all gone and my crocuses are almost done. Everything is growing quite nicely…(Suzanne)
Thanks, Suzanne. Spring is a lovely reward after living through yet another cold season. 🙂
Excellent title for this lovely post. Happy almost spring! ☀️
Thank you very much!
Yes! I saw the very first flower bud today, one of many tulips I planted last fall. 🙂 There is hope.
It always seems miraculous, doesn’t it? Like Lazarus, rising from the dead! 😉
Exactly! Reminds me that I really need to get some fencing up before the deer gets the news. It seem to be a lot of deer this year.
Deer have become such a problem here, fences are a must if we hope to harvest anything in the garden, food or flowers.
A well-titled post, Eliza. Isn’t that amazing?
Thank you, Alys. I thought sure they were goners, but they surprised me!
“I intend to keep blooming despite the weather” – doesn’t it warm the soul
I’m impressed with its determination. Thanks, Karina!
Frosty beauty 😊
Thank you, Belinda!
Yikes 😟
Mama nature in full PMS mode. She can’t decide if she’s winter cold or spring not-so-cold 😉😅
Ha! yes, very moody indeed! 😉
I hope at least some of those Irises survived the experience! Spring certainly comes with challenges in your part of the country.
Yes, they proved to be unfazed, for which I am grateful. More snow on Wed!
Beautiful photos!🙂
Thank you!
Such lovely images. One good thing to come from the unpredictable weather is all the wonderful flowering bulbs. After our last snow, daffodils, hyacinths and even a few tulips burst into bloom. Those bulbs are amazingly resilient.
Thank you, Monika. Thank goodness they are resilient, the weather this year repeatedly dumps snow on them!
When I saw those beautiful patterns on the iris, all I could think of was the shirt that Steve Perry wore during the Journey Escape Tour concert in Houston in 1981! You can get a good look at 1:05. See?
You’re right (how did you remember that??!) and I enjoyed the short trip down Memory Lane, too!
I moved to Houston for the second time in 1981, and wanted in the worst way to attend the concert, but just couldn’t make it happen. Eventually the live recording was released, and I watched it innumerable times!
Is it still that cold over ‘there’? Here in Oz we are almost half way through Autumn and my unit is still wide open and in shorts and a Tshirt. I look at that ice and think most of us don’t even get that in mid winter. Mind you, I take it that the pictures may be a before and after of what they have survived to obtain those nice blooms 🤗🤣❤️🙏
Thanks, Mark. Yes, here we get freezing temps at night through May. Spring flowering bulbs can take light freezing, so long as it doesn’t drop below 22F (-5C). Overall, it was a mild winter with above average temps. More snow coming on Wed!
Well, It lets you know your alive then…but as long as the flowers survive it I suppose 🤣
So strong to survive the snow and cold — they have to be!
Absolutely! Another storm coming on Wed!
Wouldn’t you just hate wearing a snow dress for Easter Sunday?!?
Yes!! 😀
Gorgeous petal designs and wonderful images! Very fitting for the theme too!
I think I can, I think I can … Woohoo!!! Made it! 😀
Yes! 🙂 👏
What a lovely trio of images. It’s amazing how resilient some flowers are.
Thank you, Vicki. I’m glad they proved so!
Just gorgeous, Eliza.
Thank you, Dawn, they’re strong plants!
I always feel bad when spring’s early flowers get surprised by winter’s late appearance. I hope yours survived!
We have about 3″ of new heavy mix out there from last night and another inch expected, so I’d say they are well insulated. It’s not that cold thankfully!
That’s good!
Beautiful!
Thank you, Bela!
Resilience is right! Will they survive the frosty blanket?
They amazingly came through fine. Their early blooms are now passed and we’re onto narcissus!
Once your cooler climate gardens begin to bloom, they move through the flowers fast! I’ve noticed that with all the gardens I read about, yet here, our flowers tend to linger on the plants for a longer period of time.
The colder the climate, the less time the plants have to reproduce… it’s a race to the finish! 😉
