Many thanks to Cathy at Words and Herbs for hosting her annual Week of Flowers, a meme to showcase flowers we grew in our gardens. As we head into the last month of the year, it is good to reflect on all the blessings that came our way during 2023. Gardens and flowers were just some the many for me.
As today is our last day, I thought I’d share a sunny throwback to summer in a favorite vase of mine. Who doesn’t love sunflowers? 🌻 Did you know that sunflower pollen is known to suppress intestinal infections in bumblebees? 🐝 Read about it here. Make sure you add a packet of sunflowers to next year’s garden plan!
Open to all, click the link to join in sharing Cathy’s parade of flowers. From her post: “For the fourth year now I am inviting my blogging friends to join me in posting a photo of a flower or two from their 2023 gardens each day for a week. There are no rules, so just one photo (or two or three!) with or without text is fine, and if you leave a link in the comments of my daily post, others will be able to find you and share in the fun! And this year I will start on Friday December 1st, continuing through to Thursday December 7th.“

I have always enjoyed seeing that lovely vase you have. It is the perfect one to use for this bright display!
Thank you, Anne!
Some gorgeous flowers in your wonderful vase – I do love seeing that vase Eliza. And thanks for that fact about sunflowers. I never knew.. Thank you for helping this week become bright and flowery Eliza! 🤗
Thank YOU, Cathy, it’s been a fun week!
💕
sad that today is the last day of all these wonderful flowers. How dull next week will seem…
IKR? We’ll have to post them intermittently to get us through the winter. 😉
I’m sure we can manage that, Eliza…
Eliza, thank you for showing us so much beauty this week. You always share natural beauty and a concentration of it for a week has been so enjoyable! Thank you! 💜
Thank you, Carrie, my pleasure!
It’s so lovely to see this beautiful vase again Eliza and the flower arrangement is gorgeous! 🧡🌻
Thank you, Xenia!
I loved seeing all the flowers.
Thank you, glad to share!
The week went by so fast. And you did end with my favourite, too 🙂
Thank you, Dale, glad to hear it. 🌻
💕🌻💞
Beautiful. Thanks for a bit of sunshine in flowers this morning. 😉
Thank you, Pepper!
A nice way to start a grey winter day. It is cold here with lots of snow on the ground. This bouquet is a nice gift… We are finding the grey and snow a bit difficult right now as we are back from a month in the sun of the Arabian Peninsula. We have started posting our stories from that trip. (Suzanne)
Thank you, Suzanne. Nice, looking forward to reading about your travels. You usually plan your trips to avoid winter… anything planned?
Yes, we have. We spent November in the UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabia. In Feb-March, we will be in South India and Sri Lanka…So this year, we will have to spend some of the winter in Montreal…
Exciting… I’ve heard that Sri Lanka is quite beautiful and I love their tea. 😉
Well done Eliza. Lots of happy flower memories. Now I am focusing on seeing those first blue bells and daffodils!!
MJ
Thank you, MJ. Won’t be long, right? 😉
Lovely!! 🤗💛🧡
Thank you, Susan! 🙂
That’s a bright and cheerful way to end the week, Eliza! And your post features one of my favorite vases too. Interesting about the sunflower pollen – I wonder if it has an effect on humans as well, not that we need yet another reason to plant sunflowers 😉
Thank you, Kris! I know bee pollen that is in honey has many benefits, raw honey being the best.
It’s beautiful.
Thank you!
Beautiful arrangement set off by your vase 😊 ☀️
Thank you, Belinda! 🌞
Lovely Eliza.
Thank you, Cindy!
That’s an interesting fact about Sunflowers, Eliza. Perhaps I should give planting them a go next year?
The bees will be happy if you do!
One of my favorite sunny vases! A friend sent me some sunflower seeds, I have to plant them, thanks for the reminder.
They really are wonderful for both bees and people– oh, yeah and birds love them, too. 🙂
So gorgeous!
Yay, thank you for persevering!
This is one of my favorite color combinations. Just beautiful!
Thank you, Rebecca!
Sunflowers are like nature’s smiles on earth
What a lovely thought, Isha. Spoken like a true poet. 🙂 💜💜
Aww 😊🌻🫂🌹
I can see why it’s a favourite vase of yours, Eliza. And sunflowers are super cheerful flowers. ❤

I love this vase too and it always seems to be filled with the sunniest, cheerful flowers! ❤️
Thank you, Allison!
I love how these postings are following the season!
Thanks much! x
I have so enjoyed the week of flowers, Eliza, what a great idea for wintry December days. Gorgeous arrangement of sunflowers, and delightful vase. And thanks for planting that seed in my head about sunflower seeds for next year’s garden.
Thank you, Jet, glad to hear it!
You’ve chosen a beautiful colour scheme in this vase Eliza.
Thank you, Maria!
What a visual delight on a dreary day – a perfect bouquet of sunshine!
