Cathy at Words and Herbs is once again hosting her annual Week of Flowers to showcase flowers we grew in our gardens this year. As we head into the last month of the year, it is good to reflect on all the blessings that came our way during 2023. Gardens and flowers were just some the many for me.
July’s mauve poppies (Papaver somniferum) are an annual favorite. The bees adore them as well!
Open to all, click the link to join in sharing Cathy’s parade of flowers. From her post:
“For the fourth year now I am inviting my blogging friends to join me in posting a photo of a flower or two from their 2023 gardens each day for a week. There are no rules, so just one photo (or two or three!) with or without text is fine, and if you leave a link in the comments of my daily post, others will be able to find you and share in the fun! And this year I will start on Friday December 1st, continuing through to Thursday December 7th.“

Aren’t they stunners!
Thank you, Cindy!
The colour of these poppies is beautifully rich.
Thank you, Anne. My patch of them dazzles both me and the bees! I would think they would grow well in your garden being drought tolerant.
Mine a a much paler pink 🙂
I see why the bees love these poppies – so do I! ❤
🙂 Thank you, Joanne!
That is a beautiful poppy Eliza. Exquisite colour. If I were a bee I would definitely head for that one! 😃

Poppies are a favorite here. I had to move them last year too, and I’m hoping they sprout up come spring. Fingers crossed again.
Thank you, Judy. Every garden needs poppies!
I’ve loved poppies ever since my decades living in California, where they are everyone. Gorgeous flowers.

Thank you! They really dazzle.
There’s that wonderful purple/red combination again, even if the red is playing second floral-fiddle.
