The blue background really make the moth pop out!
Yes, I saw it on my husband’s back and ran inside for the camera. It was such a willing subject, too. We moved it to safety after the shoot. 🙂
Masquerading as a fallen leaf with fall colors, another of Mother Nature’s clever adaptations 🙂
Totally amazing!!
If ever a moth looked like an autumn leaf it must be this one 🙂
Its camouflage was amazingly perfect.
Talk about nature mimicking itself … lovely Eliza!!
Thanks, Dawn. I was thrilled to study its beauty. 🧡🍁🍂
Lovely. The details and close resemblance to dead leaf is striking.
Amazing! ❤️
I was definitely dazzled by it. 🙂 🍂🍁
Beautiful! And dressed in the colours of the season! 😉
Thank you, Cathy! A lovely find and a new one to me.
These are such beautiful moths. And very autumnal in color. What was its message? 🙂

an autumnal moth…
Amazing how nature creates these perfect creatures. 🍁🍂🍂
What a wonderful edging to the wings. Moths are so pretty!
A work of art, and perfect for this time of year.
What a cool moth! Lovely shots, Eliza.
Thanks, Dale. I was thrilled to see it on my hubby’s back. 😀 I made him wait while I ran for the camera!
Haha! I can just picture it now!
🙂
There’s a ‘face’ on it’s wings…scalloped wing edge is pretty.
Yes, I saw it too. Like a fox! Fall leaf camouflage. 🙂
Stink bugs are what we have here, and they are everywhere. They’re so many I have to check doors when I open them. 🙂
Our deluge of them was about 10 days ago, nasty stinkers!
Gorgeous 🥰
MJ
Thanks, MJ. 🍁🍂
What a lovely moth. Just like an autumn leaf. Great camouflage.
Thanks, Jill. Appropriate camouflage, for sure.
A perfect herald of autumn, in color and form.

Camouflage Autumn Leaf
Precisely! 🙂
Two exceptional shots, especially the second one that makes it look like a leaf.
Thank you, Hien!
You couldn’t have chosen a better background to show off this moth’s shape and colors, Eliza!
Thank you, Debbie. The moth did the choosing, maybe the better to show off its beauty. 🙂
Looks like a piece of stained glass alighted on that lovely blue.
Thanks, Laurie! It was an exciting find, for sure. 🙂
A perfect leaf mimic! I haven’t seen an insect lately, nice to see this beauty.
It was astonishing, its fall arrival camouflage suits perfectly!
What a beautiful moth. Far more colourful than the moths I see around my apartment balcony.
Thanks, Vicki. Yes, ours are mostly brown or white, this one was a complete surprise!
Beautiful image of this moth .Anita

That’s something, that moth. I’m checking on flowers soon…

Thank you, Karina!
Looks like an autumn leaf that landed on somebody’s sweater. 🙂
It was a delightful surprise!
A beauty! I can imagine it blends in perfectly amongst the leaves.
Thanks, Adele. I probably wouldn’t have seen it if it didn’t land on my husband’s back. 🙂
Why do I feel like a moth in the colors of Fall landed on my favorite blue sweater? Great capture!
Thank you, Nailah! It was an astonishing sight, for sure. 🙂
