I found him!!!!! I found him!!!!!!! I’m the first!!! What’s my prize? Lol 😆
Ha-ha, yay! Glad you were successful! 🙂
Found the owl! Now you reminded me that I need to go and visit the Eagle Howls at our mine soon, it’s been too long.
Nice… hope you get a sighting!
I thought it would be close to the tree trunk, but it isn’t. Apparently barred owls are doing well in populated areas because they can co-exist with us. I sometimes hear them at night and have seen them occasionally.
They are our most numerous owl here as well, though recently I heard the soft hooting of a horned owl.
We have those too; love that hooting. When I first heard it I thought it was a person, since it was nearly Halloween!
🙂
I’ve only seen a couple over the years, but I found yours!
Glad to hear it, Linda. This one was remarkably nonplussed by our presence, intent on fattening up for winter, I think.
Found him. The colors of the trees are fabulous.
Thank you, Su. The colors are looking so pretty nowadays.
“Whoo-whooo-whoo-whoooooo” I found it, too! Great hunting grounds.
Lots of voles and chipmunks for it out there!
A smart owl in beautiful surroundings 🙂
Thank you, Anne. I always love seeing an owl. 🙂
The owl has chosen a lovely place with lots of trees to disguise him/her. I wonder if there is a mate?
Heading into winter, I expect it is focusing on getting fat! 🙂
Oh yes, how lucky to see it. I have only ever seen one here, and we rarely hear them too. Not owl country here. I think they prefer more mixed woods and we have mostly evergreens.
Yes, a nice sighting. It was looking for voles and chipmunks in the leaves, I think.
I see the owl, it’s a real blender!
Masters at camouflage!
Yes, but I was initially distracted by the beautiful red leaves.
Thanks, Judy!
beautiful shades of reds and gold
Thank you, Dymoon!
How lovely of him to pose for you like that and apart from the foliage so he can stand out (as much as one who becomes one with nature can…)
Beautiful!
Thank you, Dale. He was remarkably not shy at all. 🦉
That is so cool. The only time I’ve ever sighted one was when it was pointed out to me. 😏
That said he/she just sat there and let us click away.
They are well camouflaged, it usually takes movement for me to see one. Always happy to see one around the place.
They are. The ones I have seen have been hidden within the branches of a pine tree!
Found it! How lucky to come across that owl.
It continued to hunt all around the yard, seemingly not bothered by us. Must have been hungry!
It took a minutes, but I found it. I am enjoying everyone’s fall foliage photos.
Glad to hear it! 🙂
I think I see the owl. I’m positive I see the red leaves.
Glad to know it, Steve!
Yes. I found the owl! Not where I was expecting to see it. Fun game this morning.🦉
Glad you liked it. They have good camouflage. 🙂
Sneaky ‘ol owl 🦉🍂😉😍
🙂 Thanks, Susan!
I see the owl. Superb shot! Where I am the leaves are just starting to change colors.
Thanks, Hien! Hope your season is a good one.
Success!! What a beauty, Eliza! I’ve heard them early in the mornings, but thus far, I haven’t spotted one nearby. I keep hoping though!
Glad to hear it, Debbie! They are beautiful birds, hope you see one someday soon. 🙂
Yes, I had to look closely!
Good, so glad you found it! 🙂
That was fun!
🙂 I used to love to look at I-Spy books with the boys… I still have them!
I found it – or at least I think I did. My PC would allow me to zoom in on your photo to double-check. I hear them here on a regular basis but I haven’t actually captured a glimpse in years.
wouldn’t, not would
It is sitting on a branch to the left, better than against the trunk of a tree where it’d be invisible! Thanks for playing, Kris. 🙂
Hello there, wee beastie. 😀
🙂
Nice Barred Owl. Super colors. Got an owl in my coming Thursday blog.
Thank you, and I look forward to seeing your post!
Always nice to see an owl. Pretty scene too!
Thank you, Belinda! It was actively hunting and pretty much ignored us, which amazed me.
Yes!
🙂
Finally saw the owl. It looks big. What is the red fall color tree. The tracery of the branches is wonderful.
Thanks, I’m glad you found it! That is a red maple (A. rubrum). At this point it seems resistant to the fungus that is ruining the sugar maple foliage, and for that I am grateful! That and the birch trees are our best color now.
Red Maples are amazing..they grow here
OMG, how wonderful to be out enjoying fall colors with an owl!!!🙂 I spotted him and wish I could have seen the two talking to each other earlier today in our woods.🙂
Yes, it always feel special when we see an owl. 🙂 🦉🍂
Finally I found the owl. I was thinking it would be near the tree trunk, but not so. You must be enjoying the beautiful fall colour in your nearby woods.
We’re still enjoying some lovely Spring blossom on the trees, but the days are starting to warm up this week and the bushfires have already started DownUnder.
Glad you found it, Vicki. Yes, the colours are very pretty right now. I love when the sun back lights the foliage to make it glow.
Sorry to hear about the bush fires… makes for a long summer. 😦
Yes I saw 🙂
Great! 🙂
Got it, at last. Took some time, was too distracted by those fabulous colours.
🙂 Glad you did, Jill! Thanks for playing along.
I’m always awed when I see an owl that blends in perfectly into its surroundings. They are so stealthy. 🦉
They are the stealthiest, for sure!
Thanks to an others comment my mission is over and I found it too 😎
Ha, whatever works! 🙂
I saw her too, although it took a bit of looking.
Great, they are well camouflaged birds.
I love to see owls fly over the fields back at home. I’m travelling at the moment – we are more likely to hear them here.
Yes!
🙂 👍🏼
The owl is not easy to find, amazing that you found it in this lovely fall scene.
Thanks, Tom. If it didn’t fly, I wouldn’t have seen it!
It’s like a painting and the owl is an added bonus
The small detail that adds so much. 🙂 Thanks, Karina.
I haven’t seen an owl in ages. At least now I have seen one. 🙂
🙂 This one was actively hunting, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have seen it.
Wait, there’s an owl? I was so mesmerized by the red leaves! 😲
🙂
It took a minute, but it was worth the search. 🙂
Glad you found it! 🙂
