The cool weather has enhanced the Dahlia colors– deep pink ‘Pinelands Princess’, fluffy ‘Chilson’s Pride’ and rich burgundy ‘Voodoo.’ Snapdragons, Zinnias and pink/purple Cleome add texture with Verbena bonariensis providing accent. The cobalt vase complements the mix, while contrasting with fall colors in the background.

With no frost in the forecast, it looks like I’ll be enjoying bouquets for a while longer. No complaints from me!
Thanks to Cathy at Rambling in the Garden for hosting the weekly garden meme In A Vase on Monday. Click the link to see what other gardeners have created this week.

Just amazing! What a talent you have for growing, arranging and photographing flowers. Just wondering: Do you do this as a business as well as for pleasure? Happy frost free October!
Thank you, Julie. I did some flower arranging in my 20s, but mostly, I’m a gardener. I retired last year, very happily, I might add!
Oh, such splendid dahlias, and four hours before Monday! (It is just after eight here.) Voodoo is so rich!
Thanks, Tony. Yes, West Coasters get a sneak preview. 😉
💗gorgeous 💜
Thank you, Jane! x
Nice contrasts among the flowers, the vase, and the background. Dahlias are so flamboyant!
That they are, thanks, Audrey!
This is a beautiful combination of flowers with rich colours.
Thank you, Anne. One of my favorite color combos. 🙂
It’s been some time since a bouquet brought bubble gum to mind, but this one did — pleasingly, as a matter of fact.
🙂 I can see it! Thanks, Linda.
What an explosion of colors – So nice !
Thank you very much!
Gorgeous colors and exquisite flowers. Our growing seasons have been extended….a bonus in many ways.
Thank you, Alice. It feels a bit strange to have such warm weather, but it is hard not to like it!
Lovely
Merci, Sheree!
Gorgeous! I love that rich dark red dahlia. And the backdrop looks pretty too. We had our first frost last night and I wish I had picked more now!
Thank you, Cathy! ‘Voodoo’ is a looker for sure. It is only a matter of time before frost visits us as well. You’re reminding me to pick more while I can!
Spectacular Eliza. You are so gifted!!!!! This bouquet arrangement and the choice of vase is skillful and beautiful.
Thank you for your lovely compliments, Dawn! x
🌸💖🩷🙌🏼🤗
Thank you, Susan!
Your flowers look absolutely gorgeous! I love the combination of colours, and what a delight it must be to see them in a vase.
Thank you! Between seasons, we’re enjoying the best of both. 🙂
A towering display! Love the blue vase with pink and red as well as in front of the fall foliage.
Thank you, Chris! 🙂
Beautiful arrangement on this gray Monday, and the vase is a show stopper all by itself. 🙂
Thank you, Judy!
Beautiful!
Thank you, Diana!
What a gorgeous arrangement, Eliza. Love it!
Thank you very much, Dale! x
💞
What a treat! Enjoy the abundance before the frost Eliza 💐🙏🏻💕
Thank you, Val… I certainly am! x
The cobalt vase is a gorgeous contrast to the other bold colors! I love the stunning burgundy dahlias — that’s my favorite color sweater to wear in the fall. Your bouquet is a work of art!
Aw, thanks so much for your lovely compliments, Barbara. I’m in love with that deep velvety dahlia. 🙂
Beautiful, Eliza! I’m happy to see you are still doing this series, you’re always so good at flower arranging! I love that vase! Love and light to you!
Julie! So nice to see your comment, thanks much. I hope you and yours are doing well. 💜
I love the arrangement also showing the garden in the background. Nice!
Thank you, Noelle!
The backdrop for this week’s vase accentuates it delightfully. Nice addition of the snapdragon.
Thank you, Susie. Being half-hardy, the snaps seem content with the cooler temps.
Wow…eye popping beauty!
Thank you, Sandy! 🙂
Welcome, Eliza.
Oh that dark blue vase is such an asset and you have such a lovely collection of blooms in it, none showing any sign of giving up! Reading Tony’s comment, where in the US are you?
New England
Thanks – it’s good to be able to place you geographically 👍
🙂
A fabulous and bountiful vase full of gorgeous blooms and colors.
Thank you very much, Donna!
There’s something almost “Barbie-ish” about these beautiful arrangements, Eliza — thank you for brightening my Monday!
Your dahlias look utterly divine, Eliza. 🙏
Thank you, Annette!
Congratulations on dodging frost for awhile longer, Eliza! I love the combination of bright pink and deep burgundy. It always startles me to see snapdragons in bloom at this time of year as they’re mostly early spring bloomers here.
Thanks, Kris. The snaps really perk up here in the fall and can take a frost or two. If planted in a sheltered spot, they may even overwinter.
No complaints from me either. 😀
🙂
Gorgeous! The burgundy adds a wonderful touch.
Thanks much, I just adore that ‘Voodoo!’
Love the drama! And to Voodoo! wonderful combination. I guess your frost is overdue?
Thank you, Amy! Yes, before CC, the 3rd week in Sept. reliably brought our first frost. It’s probably about a month later now (and last frost is earlier in spring, too).
Wow! that is a significant change. I fear what will happen next.
Some predict before 2050, we’ll go from zone 5 to zone 7. Yikes, I hope they are wrong about that!
Me too..I hate to think what zone that would put me in!?
One of my favorite color combinations, and that blue vase is stunning. No frost here yet, either. As we would say in Maine, wicked weird. Back in the day, a hard frost would usually come by the beginning of October.
IKR? Definitely a bit unsettling to have such a trend go so fast.
What a delight! Just beautiful, Eliza 😊
Thank you, Belinda! 🙂
For some reason this vase makes me think of pink feather boas! All fluffy and diva-like (is that a word?)
MJ
Yes, that pink dahlia does look fluffy, for sure!
Lovely
You’re in… thanks for persevering!
Beautiful color combination, stunning in the cobalt blue vase.
Thank you!
You certainly have the vision when it comes to bouquet design, Eliza. This is lovely. Hopefully the frost will hold off for a bit longer so you can practice cut and come again. 🙂
Thank you, Steve. I hear that next Tues. is a possible frost. The cool weather of late already is slowly flower production. At this point, every few days I go out and cut all available flowers so there won’t be a last minute scramble.
Love the colors and photos and am very glad we’ll have more vases!!🙂
🙂 Thanks, S!
Beautiful 🙂
Thank you, Deepa!
How nice that you get to enjoy the blossoms of your gardening labors for such an extended period, Eliza.
Yes, it’s been a good season. I’m grateful!
They look so so pretty 😍
Thank you!
You are welcome 😁 Keep posting more such pics 😀
👍🏼
So beautiful
Thank you, Sanjay!
Welcome 🤗
Love all those giant dahlia poufs, and the way long vase gives them a very nice contrast both in shape and color!
Thank you, Angela! I’ll be sad to say goodbye to the dahlias, inevitably in the near future. 😦
