Wow, so many details captured that the normal eye doesn’t usually see. Beautiful image.
Thank you kindly, Rebecca!
Eliza, this is a gorgeous shot. Happy Sunday.
Thank you, Alys, enjoy your day as well. 🙂
Thank you! Our son will be here any minute to celebrate his 26th birthday.
👏🏼 🎉 🎂
Thank you!
Exquisite lighting–makes the ordinary beautiful!
Thank you very much, Ellen!
The light and the details of the leaves are exquisite! Gorgeous Eliza!
Thank you, Maria! x
Beauty!
Thanks, Dale. I love baby leaves! 🙂
Me too! 🙂
Pingback: Silent Sunday – Beech leaves | Purplerays
I really think this is a beauty.
Thank you very much, Anne. 🙂
Excellent!
Thank you! 🙂
A perfect and lovely aid to my current task of trying to learn to ID beech trees!
Glad to assist! Also beech buds are very distinctive for dormant IDing. Beech and maple are my two favorite trees, esp. their bright green emerging leaves.
Excellent macro. So soft and green.
Thank you, Laurie!
The chosen, green, pleated, leaves.
Aren’t they beautiful! 🙂
The simple beauty of nature is right in front of us when we slow down and look
So true! ❤
Love the luminosity!
Thank you, Val. I love newborn leaves!
Love the fuzzies!
🙂 Adolescent peach fuzz!
Lol!
Very hairy! ❤️
Newborn peach fuzz! 🙂
Peachy keen! 😊
Lovely in winter and spring. Nice sharp detail and love the tiny hairlets. 🙂
Thank you, Steve. Will there be an artist’s opening for your show?
Ordinarily it would have been today but there are some events he wanted to participate in including the dedication and new naming of the Quabbin Visitors’ Center. He’s having a by registration only sneak preview one day this week. My first reception is next Sunday. I am not sure how many other receptions I will be participating in but probably at least one more. https://floydgallery.com/education/sneak-preview-reception-wanderings-in-nature-by-steve-gingold
Will he be open this Wed. 1-5 pm?
As far as I know, yes but the idea that Friday is a sneak preview makes me unsure. Initially I think he was going to be but the 9th event maybe changes that. He says that he can be available by arrangement so you might be able to call him and see if he will meet you then.
I never realized beech tree leaves had so many tiny “hairs”!! How cool is that??
They only do when they first emerge from the bud. It protects the tender cells from the harsh sun. Once they expand and ‘harden,’ the hairs drop off. Oaks have ‘fur’ too. 🙂
Thanks for the info — I didn’t realize this!
Lovely capture, Eliza! The backlit sunshine and the silvery lining of the leaf–perfection!
Thank you very much, Tina! 🙂
Fabulous capture!
Thank you! 🙂
Lovely photo, Eliza! Love that fresh green.
Thanks, Belinda! Is spring just the best? 🙂
Oh yes 😊
My all time favorite tree! Glad to see it.
Sugar maple and beech are a toss up for favorite for me. They both wow me when they first unfold. Love that rich chartreuse green!
Sugar Maples are beautiful where you are!
That they are, but they tell us we are going to lose them as the winters grow milder due to climate change. I hope I don’t live to see that day!
I think that will take a longgg time, they still grow in north Georgia.
I hope you are right, or even better, we figure out how to live on the planet equitably.
Lots of smart kids!! They will figure it out.
Hope springs eternal!
What a fantastic image, Rebecca. 😊
Thank you, Pepper.
Your photograph is amazing. The detail is an education.
Thank you very much, Susie! 🙂
Another piece of art, Eliza!
Thank you kindly, Kris!
a lovely shot.
Thank you, Rupali!
Amazing detail.
Thank you, Diana!
Love the hairy edges..
Yes, I think they are adorable!
Hair on leaves, truly something I don’t normally see. I’ll be looking more! 😉 Great shot, Eliza!
Thank you, Donna. Many newly emerged leaves are pubescent. It protects them until they mature. 🙂
Like a hairy blanket… 🙂
Yes! 🙂
A beautiful backlit subject! I like how the lighting calls attention to the little hairs.
Thanks much, Denise!
Gorgeous details of the light catching the hairs on the leaves.
Thank you, Andrea. This stage of beech leaves is esp. beautiful.
Oh this is so beautiful
Thank you, Karina. x
Great shot !!
Thank you! 🙂
Sadly, this year the beeches in our area have been hit by Beech leaf disease. The leaves are twisted, malformed, and have a distinctive dark and light coloring. Beeches are one of my favorite trees, so it’s painful to see.
Ugh, so sad to hear that, Brenda. I read that they aren’t sure where it came from, nor how to treat it. Beech and maple are my favorite trees. They are now joining elm, chestnut and ash in being devastated by diseases/pests. Will anything be left?
We’ll be living in fields again, just like in the mid 1800s in New England!
