Blenko vase
This week, I share my next-to-last, pre-frost bouquet in my orange Blenko Glass vase, a perfect color for fall. This one is more of a ‘plonk’ job, but I think at this point all I wanted was to get all those flowers that I picked that day in water.
Gloriosa Daisies, with dark mahogany centers (Rudbeckia hirta), are joined by several varieties of Zinnias (Z. elegans ‘Cut and Come Again’ & ‘Thumbelina’, plus Z. x haageana ‘Persian Carpets’) and a couple white Garlic Chive blossoms (Allium tuberosum).
In A Vase on Monday is a weekly meme hosted by Cathy at Rambling in the Garden. Click the link to see arrangements made by other gardeners around the world.
Even your ‘plonked’ arrangements look lovely and the choice of vase is a perfect compliment to the flowers.
Thank you very much, Anne. 🙂
Oh my! It is Autumn already!
Oh my! It is Monday already!
Oh my! That is a lot of orange!
Ha, thanks, Tony!
You grow goodness Eliza.
Aw, thanks much, Cindy. ❤
Very pretty, very autumnal
Thank you, Sheree!
The orange colour of the vase is just perfect.
Thank you, Maria! 🙂
Thank you 💗
Autumn colors are the best!
Agreed– thanks, Janis!
Lovely Flowers ! It would be my pleasure if you join my link up party related to gardening here http://jaipurgardening.blogspot.com/2020/10/garden-affair-fruit-harvest.html
Thank you, Arun.
Perfectly ‘plonked!’
😀 Thanks, Alice!
What a stunning collection to start the week!
Thank you, glad you liked it! x
You are a very artistic “plonker”, Eliza. 😉
Haha, thanks, Joanne!
There seems to be a lot of yellow and orange going around! We’ve yet to see even fields of goldenrod in bloom, although central Texas is moving along and is well into autumn color.
No goldenrod yet? Wow Ours has come, gone, and is hurriedly setting seed…
Texas is probably the last state to see fall color, being so southerly.
Yes, I imagine where you live seldom gets all that cold, even in winter.
Actuallly, we can have days below freezing, and occasional snow!
It’s those 40 degree days that I envy in the depths of our frozen winter. 😉
The flowers are lovely, but that vase steals the show. 🙂
Thank you, Judy!
Yes the vase is great! Love all the orange.
Thank you, Chris!
Plonk arrangements remind me that nature is never perfect, that some of the imperfection is what makes it beautiful
So true! Thanks, Karen. 🙂
This is the perfect autumn vase.
Thank you! x
The colors are just perfect for autumn – great picture!
Thank you, Meg!
I like the cheerful colors?
Thank you, Ellen. Orange does brighten our autumn days. So ‘October!’
Colors. Not ? 😉
Gorgeous. Even if ‘a plonk job’ (Love that term) and love your vase and the end of season flowers – that last burst of glory always seems extra special.
Thank you, Catherine. End of season flowers are truly savored, as it is a long haul until spring, as you well know. 🙂
Ohhhhhh these colors just stir my soul, Eliza!! Amazing you have that much color left in your gardens. Wow!! I honestly cannot believe that we are in Fall. Summer went too fast this year!!
Thank you, Amy. Fall seems to be going just as quickly. Holding on!
That vase proclaims fall. As do the flowers. Wonderful!
Thank you, Laurie!
A elegant vase deserve a laid back arrangement of beauties. Such a lovely seasonal collection, and thank you for sharing Eliza.
Thank you, Noelle, much appreciated!
You have such lovely flowers and you make wonderful bouquet… (Suzanne)
Thank you very much, Suzanne. Hope you’re enjoying autumn up your way.
I love that glass vase and all the orange zinnias, which I’ve had all to few of this year. I hope fall is at least treading in softly in your garden, Eliza.
Thank you, Kris. I’m still eking out a few late blooms out of the garden, but most is about done. The calendulas had a second flush, which is nice to see, and the nicotiana and salvias are keeping them company. Slim pickings!
A very elegant plonk job!
🙂 Thanks, Susan!
Beautiful flowers as usual Eliza!!😊
Thank you kindly, Reed!
I let out a big sigh when I saw this Eliza. My Tithonias were not much good at all this summer so it was lovely to see yours in the vase. Gorgeous colours and the perfect vase too. 😃
Thank you, Cathy. That orange vase gets a lot of use every fall. 🙂
What a gorgeous vase that is, Eliza, perfect for your autumnal blooms. I was going to ask if Blenko was the brand name but then I realised you had included a link – what a delightful range! I loved the little pumpkin paperweight
Thank you, Cathy. The company is more well known to our South. It was a gift from my sister who lives down there. They offer quite a range of products. The pumpkins are popular here and made by various glass blowers. Sadly, Covid-19 has cancelled the many fall festivals where vendors sell them. A hard year for craftspeople, among all the rest.
Those colours complement each other perfectly.
Thank you, Carol. The brilliance of fall is upon us!
Well ‘plonked’! : D
Thanks! 🙂
Perfect autumn flowers and beautifully arranged. The Gloriosa Daisies are so pretty in the special glass vase.
Thank you, Susie. I love all the different patterns that show up on those Gloriosas, and they bloom non-stop, a great annual.
Gorgeous flowers, as usual! There is something about them when you know there aren’t going to be many more…
Thank you, Lisa. Yes, a bit bittersweet these last bouquets are.
Gorgeous colours Eliza and I love the Blenko vase! 🧡
Thank you, Xenia! ❤
A fiery, warm vase much needed on a grey and cold day like this, Eliza, I’m mostly a “plonk” person too when it comes to vases but it usually has a special charm 😉 Happy October days!
Thanks much, Annette!
Beautiful! None of your arrangements ever look ‘plonk’ to me. Mine would though lol. 😉
😀 Thanks, Donna!
I love that vase. Orange is the perfect colour for this time of year.
Thank you, Jill, much appreciated!
Lovely selection of photos and the perfect vase for the beautiful flowers.🙂
Thank you, S! 🙂
Another lovely Eliza arrangement, Eliza. 🙂 A fine selection of late summer blooms. The variety in your garden is impressive.
Many thanks, Steve!
Beautiful! Love the autumn palette here and everywhere I see it!
Thank you, Denise!
A perfect match, really lovely!
Thank you, Belinda!
Even your “plonk” arrangements are beautiful. Mine tend to look exactly like plonk sounds. lol! 🙂
😀 Thank you, Robin!
I like plonks.. this one looks especially nice with the colors and the Blenko vase. Rudbeckia is my favorite.. difficult for me to grow here!
Thank you, Amy. It must be the humidity… they are prone to powdery mildew even here.
The few I have tried succumbed to mildew…the natives.
