Yes, indeed. Thanks, Sandy!
Sure!
I enjoy clouds capes – they are different every time.
True, I always find the patterns so interesting. Thanks, Anne.

Now that’s a real mackerel sky! Lovely!
Just what I was going to say!

Thank you, Alice!

It was indeed! Thanks, Jet.
I love skies like this – beautiful
Thank you, Karina. The pattern was remarkable.
OMG. I have just found your blog via “Late to the Garden Party”. Your photographs are simply fabulous. Thanks for sharing. I have loved your winter pics – nothing like that here in sultry Queensland. I’m envious 😉
Thank you, Brennie and welcome! Yes, we are at opposite seasons and temperatures, though I expect you never see the cold we do here. So long as I dress warmly, I enjoy it.
Lovely! A sign of good weather to come? Have a good week Eliza!
Hope so! Thanks, Cathy!
Beautiful! We had similar skies here on Friday. Wishing you a wondrous Sunday, Eliza. 🙂
Thank you very much, Robin!
Beautiful! The sky is rippled like water.
Thank you, Laurie! Yes, they say air flows like a river, and it also reminds me of sand patterns after the tide goes out.
Sure does!
Glorious! 🙂 For some reason I associate those clouds with mild weather…was it a nice day?
Thank you, Joanna. It’s been above average most of the winter (last week and the first week of Dec. have been the coldest so far), though I don’t recall the exact whether that day. 🙂
Lovely! A spot of joy.
Thank you, Ellen. Glad you found it so. 🙂
Wide open sky, beautiful!
Thank you, Belinda. Living in the woods, this is the best we can hope for. 🙂
Stunning. 😀 … I wonder where the name ‘mackerel’ came from though. 🙂
Thank you! According to Wiki: “A mackerel sky is a common term for a sky with rows of cirrocumulus or altocumulus clouds displaying an undulating, rippling pattern similar in appearance to fish scales; this is caused by high altitude atmospheric waves.”
😀
Lovely silhouette and I love the cloud formations.
I’ve just been into my archives and I’m amazed at how many images of clouds I’ve collected over the last 10 years or so. Still can’t resist a photo of interesting cloud shapes or colours at dusk
Thank you, Vicki. I’m a lover of clouds and have a whole file just for sky shots, too. Each one is unique!
Beautiful clouds and capture Eliza! 🙂
Thank you very much, Denise!
Beat image Eliza! Enjoyed seeing it!
Thank you, Reed!

And I’ve learned the term Mackerel Sky. Thanks!
Beautiful and very clear detail of a mackerel sky, the scales are there!
Thank you, it was a stunning start to the day!
Amazing sky!
Gracias. Quite the sight to wake up to!
Love the texture. Nice capture 🙂
Thank you, Harold!
