Hermit Thrush

Hermit Thrush

Rare sighting of Hermit Thrush in my backyard today! He’s all puffed up trying to stay warm in this latest cold snap (13 degrees today – windchill tonight negative 16! Poor guy). This summer visitor is at least three months early.

Love birds and everything that goes with them.

  3. Neat Eliza! I like the lichen on the branches too, it adds lots of texture.

What a fantastic shot! Poor little guy. I’m worried. Why is he here so early?

I wondered the same thing myself. Perhaps it was the January thaw last week or maybe the solar flares are messing with the magnetic field which guides migration? A mystery we can only guess at.
