Once again, I’m joining Walktober devotees, sharing a stroll around my yard and a meander up the road to see the autumn colors. It’s an exceptional foliage season, the best we’ve had in many years.
Our host, Robin at Breezes at Dawn writes: ” Here it is, the official Walktober post. Leave your link or pingback in the comments on this post if you want to be included in the round-up (which will happen sometime near the end of the month). The official dates are October 11 through October 24 (I am extending it a little to give you more time). Take a walk, a run, a slow stroll, a swim, a drive, a meander, or just look outside a window, and blog about it. Use photos, words, artwork. Itβs up to you what you do and how you express your Walktober.”
So I’ll start in the yard (including the first photo above), then head up the hill:

Up around the corner, the neighbor’s field comes into view:
Some beautiful ferns along the way:
At the top of the hill, we turn to view the misty valley below and the patchwork of color:
The neighbors barn, glorious sugar maple in their yard, and pasture along the road:

You chose the perfect day for your walk. The skies add so much drama and really make the colours pop! Beautiful, Eliza.
Thank you, Dale. The colors have been wonderful this year, primo!
Yes, indeed!! I had trouble getting out so my Walktober might be last year’s photos that I never go around to sharing!

i am in total awe- so beautiful. i feel like i’m there on the walk. thank you!
Thank you, Pat. Glad to have your company! π
This was beautiful! Thanks for sending & thanks again for the nice chat this morning! xo
Thanks, a joy to share! π
Truly, a paradise!
Thanks, Julie. It feels that way! π§‘
Wonderful autumn moments, Eliza.π
Thank you, Jane. We’re enjoying the colors immensely!
What gorgeous scenery, Eliza — thank you for letting us tag along and enjoy it virtually! I so love that sugar maple — yours are ahead of ours in the leaf-turning, and I can only hope we get some fall color like what you’ve pictured here.
Thank you, Debbie. We’ve been blessed with optimal temps for foliage since August. Hope yours come through!
Crabapples are so red. Are they wild or cultivated? That sugar maple is excellent also.
Thank you, Tony. That crabapple showed up on its own (most likely sown by a bird). It is absolutely loaded with fruit, all ready for winter feeding.
or jelly
I don’t bother as they are very tart, blah-tasting and would need a ton of sugar!
Jelly is a ton of sugar anyway.
Your fall colors are much better than ours in New Jersey!
Thank you, Hien. The weather since August has been optimal for maples especially. They don’t like it too hot.
Oh, my gosh! Spectacular! You live in a place of beauty. That sugar maple is indeed glorious.
Thank you, Laurie. That tree always glows getting 360ΒΊ sunshine year round like it does!
A splendid walk! The colors this year are simply stunning, and the sugar maple paired with the barn in the distance makes for the perfect rural autumn scene. A true visual treat! πΈπβ¨
VΔ mulΘumesc, Aura! Many thanks, it is a beautiful area.
That is one spectacular stroll, Eliza! There are no landscapes here that can hold a candle to the one you shared but then it’s still more like summer than fall here at the moment. Even the plants that will color up to observe the seasonal change haven’t done so yet.
Thank you, Kris. The contrast between our temps and ‘out West’ has been quite extreme since August, thanks to the jet stream. Quite grateful for that!
Lovely shots, Eliza. The countryside you call home is glorious π
Thank you, Belinda. I truly love it here. π
I can see why!
Glorious fall colours indeed. We are also having a good season of colours though the recent rain has downed a lot of leaves. (Suzanne)
Thank you, Suzanne. Same here, rain and wind are sending leaves tumbling down. Peak color is too fleeting!
Beautiful walk and captures. All the seeds should arrive by Monday hoping they make your place pretty next summer.
Thank you, Eunice. New England is a beautiful place to be in the autumn. π
Your last two photos are splendid, but my favorite is the first, with the red sumac shining against the gold trees. While we don’t have the color that your landscape provides, we’ve at least had our first fall ‘cold’ front. Tomorrow it’s forecast to reach only 70 degrees!
Thank you, Linda. That is the view from my back deck (the big garden is below right). I never tire of it, whatever the season. Your second spring has arrived, enjoy!
Wonderful scenes, Eliza. Classic autumn sights. I love those ferns!
Thank you, Audrey. Ferns don’t get enough attention, IMO. They turn color beautifully! π§‘
I love the colors and scenery in the first one, but all of the images capture the beauty of the season and your part of New England.
Thank you, Tom. I never tire of it!
I love autumn for the views it offers and for making letting go look beautiful.
You live on beautiful ground. A lovely colourful gallery, Eliza.
Thank you, Rupali. I am grateful! ππ
You have some lovely autumn colour Eliza. Especially the maples. The view across the misty valley is so peaceful and pretty. π©·
Thank you, Cathy. That view is always worth the climb. π π
Thank you for taking us along on your beautiful stroll, Eliza. This is a lovely time of year. π
Thank you, Tanja. Nature really puts on the show!
A gorgeous New England autumn day! Those ferns are so pretty and that’s a spectacular sugar maple. A refreshing, lovely Walktober walk indeed.
Thank you, Barbara. It is restorative! π§‘
Gorgeous Walktober post! You are so right – we have been treated to absolutely beautiful foliage this year in Massachusetts. When the sun shines on the trees in the afternoon sun its just glorious, even on my ride home from work. Love the misty valley shot!
Thank you, K. We’re blessed! π§‘
I would never go in the house if I had all that beauty around me, gorgeous!π
You live in a really beautiful place!
Absolutely wonderful π§‘ππππ€©
