Hi Eliza. How lovely to see a flower! It’s that point in winter when I am beginning to feel a bit desperate for colour. We don’t get back to Le Shack until the end of the month but I keep picturing our spring bulbs all just beginning to poke their heads out of the ground and can’t wait to see them.

Magnificent!!! So many flowers at once. You must be thrilled looking at that. Is this a new…1st time growing this one? The red edging on the petals is super pretty. My ‘Apple Blossom’ from last year has just started growing…maybe 1 1/2″

Thanks, Alice. Yes, new this year, ordered online with my fall bulbs. My regular HD ones, I put in the garden this summer and they did well. I potted them up a few weeks ago, hopefully they’ll bloom in 6-8 weeks.

Love these plants. Don’t know why I don’t buy one for myself

  12. Absolutely beautiful. Do you keep your bulbs from year to year?

    • Eliza Waters's avatar Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Judy. I generally do, to mixed results. Last summer, I learned from a blogging buddy to put them in the garden to replenish. They grew fat and healthy. After a rest period, I just potted them up a few weeks ago, so we’ll see how they do. Fingers crossed!

It’s a beautiful flower. I smiled to see the snow outside the window in the first photo; that’s reason enough to grow such indoor gems!

  17. Wow! What a gorgeous amaryllis!
