Silent Sunday – Sky Gazing

Fascinating cloud formations – makes a cool sky abstract.
Thank you, Tom. The skies have been pretty mesmerizing lately. I need a lounge chair!
Mare’s tails! Everyone knows “red sky at night, sailors’ delight,” but there’s also this: “Mares’ tails and mackerel scales are surest signs to lower sails.”
I love those old-time weather advisories we grew up with, back before satellites minimized the guesswork and mystery.
Love it! Watching the sky never gets boring!
For sure, the clouds have been amazing this week!
Here as well!
Whoa, Eliza! Nobody said the rapture was today 🤗🤣❤️🙏
Haha, Surprise! 😉
🤣 It looks beautiful kind lady, something to keep 😂❤️🙏
Gorgeous pattern Eliza
Thank you, Sheree. It really caught my eye!
Understandably
Ahhhh, big sigh! I think I may have to do some sky gazing today too! Have a lovely Sunday!
Thank you, Cathy. Enjoy!
That’s a fabulous sky!!
Thank you, I found it mesmerizing!
Yhat looks kinda wild and amazing.
Mares’ tails always get my attention… weather change coming!
Love the clouds and photo!!🙂
Nice to see nice blue skies with white clouds instead of smoke. I breathe better just looking at this!
Glad that the smoke passes on, giving us a break. 🙂
This looks quite magical, Eliza.
Yes, it felt that way! Thank you, Flavia. 🙂
Wispy and mesmerizing!
Thank you, Barbara. A bit of a show at breakfast, had to run for the camera. 🙂
I love some cool cloud formations. I was just north of you at a wedding in Heath yesterday when the clouds ganged up on us and dropped a heavy downpour on us – luckily under a tent when it happened! Lightening struck very close to where we were, I’ve never heard thunder like that before.
A neighbor of ours was also getting married right at that time, but luckily it cleared out fairly quickly. Outdoor weddings can be dicey in summer between heat and storms.
Heath is high up, so more open for lightning. Glad it didn’t strike closer! Did you go to the fair, too? 😉
I didn’t know there was a fair. In Heath?
Yes, the sweetest little country fair you could hope for. Always mid-August. They even have fireworks one night and square-dancing, the usual aggie displays and food caravans.
That sounds cute!
My goodness! I have never seen cloud patterns like that before.
‘Mares’ tails’ usually foretell a low pressure system en route. Half inch of rain was the result. 🙂
Yay!!!
Like kites 🪁 on a windy day! 🤩😎 Cool shot!
Thank you, Susan. I had that same thought! 🙂
What a gorgeous photo!
Thank you, Debra!
Windy day? Great shot!
Thank you, Hien. Not too breezy, but probably was up there!
Those wispy mare’s tails tell me rain is headed your way. Hope you can use some — we sure could. It’s been dreadfully hot and dry (though humid).
They did foretell about 1/2″ of welcome rain, much appreciated by the flora. 🙂
What a perfect windswept sky!

Thanks, Kris. A nice set of mares’ tails, I must say. 🙂
Hi Eliza. Awesome ! A thing of beauty.
MJ
Thank you, MJ. And they brought a bit of welcome rain, which made the plants happy.
Clouds are fascinating. These remind me of Iris.
Thank you, Amy. Spoken like a true floral artist!
What beauties they are!
Thank you, Sandy!
Did you see it?
We were having our morning cuppa and I looked up, gasped and ran for my camera. 🙂
Awesome!
Thanks, Gary!
That is amazing. Is it a slow exposure? 😊
No, it was a straight auto camera shot. The number and clarity of the wisps were unusual, with such a blue sky to define them
Very nice! 😊
Thanks! 🙂
Sitting in a comfortable lawn chair and just looking at the show 😊. Lovely!
Thanks, Belinda. I really want to get one of those zero-gravity chairs, then I won’t get a stiff neck!
😊
It’s funny the different interpretations
Pareidolia! 🙂
Gorgeous!
Thank you, Donna!
A great word
What beautiful cloud formations, Eliza!
Thank you, Monika. I loved these!
Beautiful wispy clouds!
Thank you, Rebecca!
Those wispy “wind hooks” have us hooked.
For sure!
