Ugh, I just shoveled more snow off of ice. Sketchy walking!
It is nasty. I went out to plow my way out at 3 am this morning then drove all day in nasty weather only to come home and jump on the Deere and plow what had fallen here. I will sleep like a baby tomorrow 🙂

Pretty, but I hope you didn’t lose your power.
Miraculously, we did not. We had our generator serviced a couple weeks ago to make sure our back up was in good working order, just in case. So glad we put one in many years ago, there are so many old trees along our lines that let go frequently.
Yay! Yes, good to have a generator when you live in an area with frequent power outages.
We got one after a big December ice storm where the power was out for 5 days. Hauling water from the stream up an icy slope to flush toilets was just too much!!

We had rain/freezing rain, followed by a rapid drop in temperature. Ice coating the trees is quite glittery!

What is the weather like? Did you have big storm? It is very icy here and has been for more than 6 weeks.
The temps rise and fall constantly. We had rain, then the temps dropped to freezing rain and then a bit more snow on top of that. Then it got so cold everything turned to ice. Very slippery out there. And tonight 3″ of snow is expected. With ice underneath, it is going to be a bit treacherous until the next temp rise. Ah, winter!

Great photos, especially the ice on the branches. Our snow and icicles are just a memory with the temperatures in the 70s this week.
70s sounds so good right now! It has been a very cold start to the year for us. And we’ve got a good six weeks to go!

Ice grippers are a necessity out there, I keep them on my boots constantly. I don’t need to take a fall!

The blue/red contrast in the sunset image is very appealing, so are the icy branches.
It’s really slippery here, too. I haven’t gotten out my microspikes yet, useful but harder to get on your shoes than yaktracks.
Thank you, Tom. I think microspikes are better, but if I walk consciously, I manage with the yaktrax. Glad to have them!
Actually, I have nanospikes, A smaller spike, better for different kinds of surfaces.
